And how low Furman is if I am reading this correctly. It does not format well on my phone.

So much of this poll riding on the 2018 playoffs still... real sad that it won't change unless the bottom falls out for a team (though thought EWU had that moment this weekend)

You mean other than JSU being ranked 8 spots ahead of the team that sat on their face?

Yes, that example is egregious. Other than that it's not.... terrible. It has 24 of the 25 teams from AGS poll (we added Princeton at 24, while STATS has SEMO at 23). Only 5 of the 25 are more than 3 positions up or down from AGS. We are higher on UNI (4 spots) and Furman (+5) an are more critical of Kennesaw (-5), JSU (-6) which is your main gripe (justifiable) and EWU (-4). They actually have SLU only one spot below AGS; it's that they didn't punish JSU as much as we did, especially now that EWU appears to be a dumpster fire. Take out that WTF comparison of SLU/JSU/EWU and this is pretty decent for a STATS poll, IMO....

Its all good, I know FU will slowly move up if we keep on winning but I wonder just how many of these voters have seen any FU game this season, would be interesting to know

Southeastern Louisiana and Jacksonville State need to be switched. Sac State needs to be ranked. Also, Furman needs to be about 5 spots higher too.

KSU way to high.

KSU way to high.

Agreed. 10/11 new starters on offense is what leads to our inconsistency (21 points in 3rd quarter with nothing to brag about anywhere else against Mo St). Defense is solid but more built for “bend don’t break”. I’m okay with where AGS has us, but we won’t know our true worth until playoffs, unfortunately.

If offense gains the experience they need with the rest of our cupcake schedule, we could be poised for another trip to the quarterfinals. I love the team, but this is a rebuilding year.

KSU way to high.

Totally. *Might* be worthy of a top 10 ranking by the end of the year (despite our schedule, which his absurdly weak), but we haven’t earned it thus far, and have a whole lot to improve upon.

I feel like KSU is still ranked high because of their quarterfinal run two years ago and their very good season from last year. Ultimately we will find out how good KSU is once we get to the playoffs. They are a good team, but their first half against Missouri State wasn't very pretty. I won't argue against their top 10 ranking. They deserve it as much as anyone.

Certainly agree that’s why we’re ranked this high, however I’d argue it’s not really appropriate since we basically replaced everyone on offense. The QBs have had issues protecting the football, and looked pretty bad against MOST for most of the game, however I agree with ksu_owls, the personnel we have has the potential to be more dynamic than in years past, so we’ll see what happens as the year unfolds.

Only in FCS ball can a 2-2 team be ranked 4th and a 1-3 team ranked 21st.

Yeah, in Davis's case it's cuz of money games and in a 12 game season, nearly everyone plays one. Their other loss was a very respectable performance at the #1. EWU...... no argument. They've got big issues on defense.

Right - I have NO ISSUE w Davis. You have to look at who they played etc. UC Davis looks top 5. It's about more than just record. But apparently not to STATS and COACHES at times.

Easily one of the better performances I have seen from a team in the Dome. IMO, they should have won but kept shooting themselves in the foot with those 3 INTs.

Well in general D2 doesn't have nearly as many money games as FCS teams do
D3 definitley doesn't.
FBS polls make it so if you aren't a P5 you're basically ****ed when it comes to getting ranked if you have even one loss.

FCS, on the flip side, has teams going to play P5s. A team like UNI losing to Iowa State in triple OT is still going to be ranked highly even after being 0-1. A team like Weber has more than held their own against two FBS schools. Sure, they have 2 losses but they are losses that everyone outside of like 5 schools would have and maybe 1 of them would have won both.

It's voters being smart enough not to judge someone simply off of W-L record, especially early in the season. We aren't ranking best records. We are ranking best teams. At the FCS level that can frequently mean you can be a top 25 team but early in the season thanks to FBS games or playing another top 10 team you are going to be 1-2 or 2-2 through 4 weeks and still worthy of a higher rank. Outside of getting blown out beyond what should be expected, or winning, during an FBS game a smart voter will mostly ignore them/view them as "if they met/exceeded what they should have done in that game we should treat it like a FCS win in terms of record. If they got blown out/looked bad then it's worth debating a drop"

I tend to view the week 5 poll as the end of the grace period and by week 6 you need to have an FCS leg to stand on and you need some pretty massive exceptions to be ranked

On the flip side - it is hard to reconcile what we saw in Fargo with what we saw against San Diego.

Yeah, was only commenting on the optics of it and the uniqueness of the FCS position in the football hierarchy. Agree on UNI and Davis. Won't ever change my mind on a 1-3 team though.

On the flip side - it is hard to reconcile what we saw in Fargo with what we saw against San Diego.I get that, but at this point, outside of the top 3 and maybe Nova (due to the Towson win) who should be ranked higher? If we take Nova away, we have Nova, WSU, Davis, and UNI. The parity this year is something that I am enjoying. That SD game is hard to look past but I'm not seeing too much from others to discredit them from being in the T5

Again... depends on the games. EWU should not be ranked now, period. If BBQ loses to UNI, who would is currently already a top 5 team, on a last second FG or in OT, for example, and has 6 point losses to two 3-1 FBS with Sagarin rankings of 65 and 106 (only NDSU has a higher Sagarin than SDSU and 4 FCS teams are higher than Nevada), I'd probably have a hard time finding 25 teams to put on the poll above Weber. Depending on the other outcomes, they may even stay top 15. There's still lots of FCS-FCS matchups to flesh out where teams should be.

I think that the top 5 are about the only thing that is right, from 6-19 its just a dice roll right now base on where you started and who is last years flavor. 3-4 games should sort it out

All the teams below 6 except ewu and jsu should feel slighted.
