:)......just bustin' but in these 12 game years, it seems like they start up about halfway through the season.

Fear not, the Ancient VIII will hit the gridiron starting.....the weekend after next.

Why play the games, when they can be ranked without it? The Ivy gets respect for their circle-jerk schedules with the Patriot League, but Dayton and Duquesne go out and win games against ranked, scholarship programs and are virtually ignored.

When is the last time Princeton or Yale beat a ranked team on the road? Duquesne did it in the First Round of the 2018 NCAA playoffs and Dayton just did it 2 days ago. Guess all that matters is your conference affiliation. Dayton can't get a single vote in the AGS poll and Duquesne doesn't get a single vote in the Coaches poll.

STATS Poll
RV Princeton (229)
RV Duquesne (109)
RV Dartmouth (83)
RV Yale (30)
RV Dayton (30)

Coaches Poll
#25 Princeton (50)
RV Yale (18)
RV Dayton (2)
RV Dartmouth (1)

AGS Poll
#25 Princeton (239)
RV Yale (46)
RV Duquesne (43)

We're a dumb conference.

What is the rationale for the Ivies starting after everyone else each year?

Well they only play a 10-game schedule and don't participate in the playoffs. If they started when the rest of the country did their season would be over by Veterans Day.

Just wasn't sure if it was the same rationale as them not participating in the playoffs. Also, if they choose a 10-game schedule why does it matter what dates they start/stop or is it just traditional dates?

Traditional dates, I believe.

Harvard-Yale the week before Thanksgiving and work back from there until you have ten games. That's the start of the Ivy season.

Yale beat a ranked Cal Poly team on the road in 2013. Penn beat a ranked Villanova team on the road in 2015.

I think you'd be hard pressed to come up with another pair of "road" games that required a different length of travel for the visiting teams than the ones you listed there.
