Putting the BYE as the last game week? Might as well put homecoming as the bye-bye game. xlolx Essentially the season is over at that point...unless I missed something...

You have to click on the schedule to see all of it. Dixie has three November games after the Halloween bye.

Drake is the only FCS at home, and they had to pay $200,000 to get them. Ah, life as an independent...

xlolx Didn't think that made sense. Sorry about that. xlolx

Great to see SUU as their first game.

Even away, that's very local. Cedar City is only about an hour up I-15 from St. George.

Seriously? No way they paid that much for a FCS "buy" game. Thought the going rate for a FCS at FCS guarantee game was well under $100k.

Maybe get to see them Nov 14th at Brookings? Probably not, Mavs are due for a home game to end the regular season next year. Of course their schedule isn't out yet.

Think the number originally came from a news article. Public records request for their contract?

Speaking of Drake, does anyone know how much they got to switch this year's SDSU game from Des Moines to Brookings?

Drake has always liked paychecks. Suddenly, however, they're taking it to a new level.

Thanks. Wow! That's a huge single-game buy for a FCS team.

That will change the further out you get. Most schools had 2020 and 2021 schedules full. Like NAU - we are full the next few years, then start a 8 game home and home series with them.

The name really made no sense in the first place. What about a university in Utah is "Dixie?"

Mormons grew cotton there before the Civil War and many of them had come from the South. So Southwest Utah became known as Dixie. I'm wondering what they can change it to since there already is a Southern Utah. Maybe U of Utah-St George?

The southwestern region of Utah where the school is located is known as the Dixie region but there is a long history of connection to the antebellum South.

They were the Flyers until 1951 when they changed to Rebels but that wasn't PC enough so then they were the Red Storm. Hard to have a mascot with that so they became Trailblazers which got them in trouble with the Portland Trail Blazers and I suppose wanted to avoid the Daniel Boone type mascot and used a Bison instead.

If they were U.U.St-George they could become the Dragons.

Zion National Park is less than an hour away - could potentially tie that in.

Or they could reference the river that runs through St. George - Virgin River University? The River University Virgins?

A bill was introduced in the Utah state legislature last Monday that would authorize the name change if it passes.

Since it’s likely to come up again here...

dixie state’s AD is on record saying they aren’t sure they will be able to play a WAC sked in ‘21 due to how many games they had and the ability, inability to get out of them so close to the year

We are not sure how many of the new WAC schools will be able to help alleviate that pressure and it has to happen rapidly if at all

I honestly believe that will be kind of an intriguing matchup. I guess North Alabama backed out of their game creating an open date for Dixie to fill. I wonder what they're getting paid to travel from Utah to Newark in late October.

I have no idea on how much there getting paid but I agree with you on the intriguing matchup. This might not be the Dixie cup cake hen fans are expecting

The Trailblazers will be the common opponent allowing some comparison across conferences.

Maybe. The likelihood is that they will get crushed by a majority of those opponents. Not sure how you can compare multiple blowouts.

How many blowouts over/under for the Trailblazers?

At least Tarleton stayed close in their first FCS game.

Would have to define blowout though
