2019 FCS BOLD Predictions

My bold prediction may upset some of my fellow Bison fans. As much as I'd like the Bison to win every year, this year looks to be a possible hurdle in the string of playoff games. Young team, new coach, 7 starters returning.

My BOLD prediction is that NDSU finishes no better than 7-4, and possibly misses the playoffs if they do worse. SDSU, Illinois St and Indy St all on the road, and a strong UNI team at home. They also have some tough Non-conference games, top 5 UCD at home and Delaware on the road. You just never know how the UND game will go.

I can see 2 or 3 losses for NDSU, but not 4

So you asked for bold, so I'll take the bait .... but mine comes with big IF on this one .. IF our QB gets his act together this season and it looks like he will at least be better than last year ... ISUr will contend for and could have enough to win Natty. Got a lot coming back on both sides of ball, and also added some nice pieces on both sides. This team will be better on defense than our 2014 team, and has more than enough on offense though certainly NOT as much firepower as 2014, IF .... see earlier.

Hell, he had the best QB he's had in a decade the last 2.5 years as a starter and still made it am open competition with musical QBs last year

ETSU was a pretender last year ... their 7-3 record was padded with many very weak wins, including 27-24 over 0-10 VMI. If you remove their 45 pt win over Gardner Webb, their total margin in the other 6 wins was 16 total points .. these margins against the 61st ranked SOS per Massey. So this is not that surprising, other than they lost this game at home.

Probably next year when they put another nobody D3 team in the dirt again.

So this is not that surprising, other than they lost this game at home.

They weren't great last year, but pretty good. The SOCON has been very competitive in conf play the last few years. Many teams in a bunch so margin of victory for conf games across the board has been really low. There have been very few blowouts. The real problem is that they graduated their first full class. Lost a bunch of that initial leadership and energy this year as a result. I have not ranked them at all this year until I saw what they were going to do.
