How about if we add a poll to those since most people seem to like it and it does not detract from the game thread in any way. You can easily make the poll end in 6 days so it stops before game time etc.

Also for playoffs it is kind of nice to have this set up for historical purposes.

Round X: Team X @ Team Y

I appreciate the thread starters a whole lot, thank you. If you don't like the suggestions do what you do but I think it would be a better way of doing things if we could get into that practice and it keeps me from doing a lot of extra **** to make things nice for us. xlolx

Sounds reasonable. Then you dont have multiple threads about the same game.

I want you all to pay attention to what your cohorts are asking for this season in the game threads. If you take up the task then put the poll on it and make sure it closes once the game will start so people can't vote after the game. If you need help ask me and I will give the instructions but it is pretty simple to figure out.

Another really good and nice thing to do is to post the link where we can either listen or watch the contest in the first post if you can. I know, I'm a demanding sumbitch but if you take a few minutes you can make a better thread so please give it a shot this season.

Why not?
If people want to vote for who they think will win, they can.
If people don't want to vote, they don't have to.
Seems like the opposite of a big deal *shrug*

It isn't a big deal, it is a bit of guidance by the vote so people starting them can see it is something others would like to have them do. So I'm trying to remind and guide so it becomes second nature for the thread starters.

Yo big bear. How do I go about adding a game poll to the NDSU vs Butler thread we already have? I tried to go and edit the post but I didn't see anything (I possibly missed it).

Polls on game threads with good rules is a good idea .. over time, it will probably only happen on games of strong interest, which only make more sense. If I did one, I would only do it on ISUr games that I thought others would want to weigh in on. Obviously top 25 level teams will and should generate more interest . but free market will sort that out over time.

So ... yes, it is good idea for some games.

then I vote we also have a thread with a poll that predicts the outcome of the NDS-Butler poll ...... though might be better to make it an over-under thing ... as in over/under 200-0 vote or a 300-0 vote.

All in favor ????

You have to do it when you start it my man. That is why I'm trying to make a big deal and alert people. If you are going to start a game thread it is incumbent on you, the thread starter. I can merge two threads together though if one has a poll and one doesn't and that can fix it. But it is unnecessary work that can be avoided if you do it correctly the first time. This is something that sort of caught on last year so I am sure it will be a gradual change but if we keep bringing it up it will occur quicker.

Sounds good. I was going I could add a poll to that thread but if I can't no big deal.

Thanks for the help.

Who was the one person (so far) that didn't actually read the question and voted no?

Also, before you start a game thread, scroll down a page or two to make sure nobody else has started one. Sometimes the Game threads get bumped down due to inactivity and then we end up with two and someone has to merge them....

I'm more "frustrated" by the games that end up with a game week thread - or two - and then a game thread.

There are a few fan bases this tends to happen with most and it's incredibly redundant and I hate it.

I got no problem with that. I think there should be two threads on that occasion though so you can discuss in the one and then have the gameday thread for the actual updates. So in that case the poll should be in with the first one I would think. No need for it if there is already is a thread in advance which is a great thing for AGS in my opinion. It can be overdone at times but I ain't gonna gripe about FCS threads being started. xlolx
