I would assume that the vast majority of that comes from Basketball. In fact, I would bet that sales jumped quite a bit this year after the hiring of John Thompson III.

I doubt the Wal-mart thing is as much a factor as general fan support.. The SEC has 7 teams in top 16 in average attendance in I-A, so that should tell you why they also happen to be the best sellers among merchandise.

Gag me at #3, the whole state is obsessed anyway.

I'm kinda surprised Tech is that high, maybe the colors and logo have alot to do with it.

I'm REALLY surprised that TxSt and Sam are that high on a national list of all schools. I definately figured all of the DI-A football playing schools in Texas would be higher than us or Sam, just for the sheer fact of exposure. Well except for SMU. Either way that is FREAKIN awesome.

Virginia Tech isn't on that list either.........the list is not accurate, because there is no way that JMU outsells VT in terms of merchandise

I think that there are some schools that arent members of CLC. Tha would explain the lack of major schools. I don't think I saw Miami (FL) on that list either.

Sales actually declined; Georgetown was #44 last year. I think that's more of an issue with the Carolina blue jerseys pushed by Nike than on the coach's hiring.

Nike has nothing to do with it.. This list is for the top selling schools that have their licensing handled through Collegiate Licensing Company.. This applies to all merchandise, not just uniforms and coach apparel.

Neither Oregon or Oregon State are members of CLC nor is Texas a&m..

Yeah, what's up with that? My wife came home with a Carolina blue golf shirt for me; it simply has "Georgetown" printed in block letters. It is a high quality shirt, but it looks strange. Still deciding whether to keep it...it was sold at the campus book store. :confused:
