Joe Protheroe running for 1810 yards is pretty impressive, especially considering he faced the #1 seed, #2 seed, #3 seed, #6 seed, and Montana State this season. Bragalone was a Payton finalist last season after running for less than 1400 yards against the sisters of the poor, for crying out loud! ;)

Too bad Strong III has only gotten the bulk of carries for five games, otherwise I would think he’d be on the Rice list.

I am curious what the knock on Zerrick Cooper is. He's got similar stats to Tom Flacco and isn't even on the considered list.

I have Protheroe in the top 20. He may end up in the top 5. I almost put him there. I would have projected him to be #6 or #7 if I had listed a top 10.

Just trying to shrink the lists some. No knock on him. I believe Pearson was nominated for OVC OFF POY and not Cooper and I tried not to put 2 from a team unless that team is undefeated or the two players are in the top 5 in major stats on their side of the ball. I have both from WIU in my top 20 on defense because Saunders is the best DT in the nation and Swenson has put up such gaudy numbers to lead the nation in TFL and sacks.

RB Pierre Strong Jr., SDSU- 67 carries, 797 yards, 11.6ypc, 8 TD, 79.7ypg, 4 catches, 84 yards, 8.4ypc, 1 TD, 8.4ypg in 10 games.

Was the 4th string running back at the beginning of the season. Was the featured back for the last 3 games and ran for 136 (2 TDs), 194 (3 TDs), and 260 (3 TDs) yards, respectively.

SCFBF, have you seen any tape on him yet? The stats are impressive, but he also looks the part as well. He's getting the Zenner comp from SDSU fans and it's hard to disagree (Zenner was more powerful, Strong is a bit more agile, IMO).

Have not seen him yet but noticed the numbers. Very impressive to fill in that way. I like the RB who got hurt. He can really run. I know he probably doesn't need to pursue the NFL with his academics but he was a good one. Both of them need to be 2nd team or HM when the MVFC releases their awards. It is a shame neither had the games and carries to get national award consideration.

I don't see how anyone but Adrian Hope wins the Jerry Rice Award.

The dude led the FCS in sacks in 10 games and finished 2nd in forced fumbles. I don't know how often a freshman notches 15 sacks in a season - especially playing in a conference with two option teams - but that is darn impressive.

That monster game to close the year could do it. I have him in the top 5 for sure. I would think he finishes at least 2 or 3. People like offense and the Weber State running back was very good. He got 1st-team All-Big Sky.

It's interesting UC Davis' Moe is on the list - yet EWU's Jay-Tee Tiuli, who won the Big Sky DPOTY Award, is not. Moe only made 2nd Team Big Sky. Either one is overvalued or one is overhyped, no idea honestly.

The DT probably won because he is a senior who had a name and EWU DL was very good overall. Probably getting credit for Johnson having the breakout year as well?

STATS also put Moe on their list and I'm pretty sure Moe has a lot of backing. Often times coaches go for the senior to get more people love. I think the DT is overhyped but solid. I was thinking he would be a 3rd team All-American but if media outlets use the coaches votes then he may get 1st or 2nd team now.

Not that Tyrie Adams has a snowball's chance (he will be 2nd team All-Socon QB behind Hodges), but I did want to draw attention to the fact that it was announced he is only the 10th player in FCS/I-AA history to pass for 2000 and rush for 1000 yards in the same season. He is a RS JR and will be back for 1 more year, where hopefully the team will be better and that will help him, too.
