Two SLC conference games tonight:
Southeastern Louisiana at Nicholls
and
Northwestern State at Stephen F. Austin

Both with a 7 PM EST kickoff time.

Its River Bell Classic night! One of the more intense and interesting rivalries in the SLC and it always produces a fun football game. For those who don’t know, this game is known for making or breaking a team’s season. The Lions won last year in a thriller, it will be tough to take the River Bell again though. Nicholls is pretty damn good. And this time the game is in western Louisiana

There is still the possibility of Iowa State cancelling the UIW game if the Cyclones make the Big 12 championship game (would require them to win their remaining two games, and maybe having another team or two lose a game).

I'd have to imagine that UIW gets at least some money from ISU, regardless of whether or not the game is played, since they cancelled their other game to facilitate this arrangement.

Yeah, that is always a tough one. Do you look at the rank of a teams opponents at the time of the game or at season's end? I have seen arguments for both sides. It can be a tough call. When talking about playoff worthiness I tend to give more weight to the final.

I mean, there are always a few teams who are ranked early and then self destruct. If a team is ranked, say #15, at the start, and then they never win a game all year, should a team who beat them in week one really take credit for beating a #15 team? They probably had no business being ranked anyway. But that's the easy case. Likewise a team might beat an unranked team in week one, but that team might go on a winning streak and end up at #5 by seasons end. I am sure folks don't mind taking credit in that case even if the team was unranked at the time they beat them.

Sloppy game by both teams. ISUb has a miss handled snap on an XP and a missed snap on a punt attempt.

WIU looked to have tired it with a TD pass right before half but the QB was called for pass interference. Yes you read that correctly. They announced the penalty on the WIU QB and not the WR. The WR held his arm straight, didn't make contact with the DB and dove for the ball in the end zone. Made the catch but got called for PI. WIU failed to score on the drive.

I am happy for your school. I know NCAT would rather be in the FCS, but this is what the MEAC wanted, so this is what they get. I know how important the Celebration Bowl is to the HBCU schools for the comradery, music, tailgating, festivities, etc... and so this is ideally the best situation for those involved.
