Isaac West Keeping Exclusive Training Camp Diary For PhiladelphiaEagles.com
All-Time Furman Receptions, Receiving Yards Leader Attempting To Make 53-Man Squad

July 28, 2005

BETHLEHEM, PA. -- Former Furman standout wide receiver Isaac West will be chronicling his Philadelphia Eagles' training camp experience through an exclusive diary for PhiladelphiaEagles.com, the club has announced.

West, a 2004 consensus All-Southern Conference performer for Furman and free agent signee of the Eagles, initiated his diary, titled "Western World: One More Day", today, the first day of Philadelphia's training camp, which is being held at Lehigh University. In his first entry, he detailed his pre-camp training regimen consisting of receiver-specific drills, speed work, and conditioning program. He also revealed he had recently attended an Atlanta Falcons training camp session to check up on a pair of former Furman teammates, wide receiver Brian Bratton and free safety Cam Newton, who, like West, are free agent signees battling to make NFL rosters.

West, an Augusta, Ga., native, caught a team leading 60 passes for a school record 1,006 yards and six touchdowns in 2004 to help lead Furman to a 10-3 record, SoCon championship, and No. 5 final national ranking. He finished his career as the Paladins' all-time receptions (140) and receiving yards (2,338) leader.

Philadelphia plays its first preseason game Aug. 15 at Pittsburgh. Kickoff is set for 8:00 p.m. and the contest will be televised by ESPN.

The Eagles open the 2005 regular season on Monday, Sept. 12 against the Atlanta Falcons at the Georgia Dome.
