Hempstead, NY --
Hofstra University Director of Athletics Jack Hayes today announced that contracts for football games against Bowl Championship Series (BCS) opponents in both the 2008 and 2010 seasons have been finalized. Those contests will become Hofstra's first encounters against institutions from conferences that have automatic berths in the BCS bowl system.

The Pride will tackle Big East member the University of Connecticut at Rentschler Field in East Hartford, CT, in the 2008 season opener on August 28, 2008, and Atlantic Coast Conference member Boston College at Alumni Stadium in Chestnut Hill, MA, on October 9, 2010.

The UConn-Pride meeting will be the fifth meeting in a series that began in 1996, but the first since the Huskies moved up to the Big East Conference and the BCS. The series stands tied at 2-2 with each program having a home and road victory. The Pride won the last meeting in the series, a 56-17 decision in the 1999 home opener. The Huskies, who made their first ever bowl game appearance in 2004 with a 39-10 victory over Toledo in the Motor City Bowl, were 4-8 in 2006.

it's nice to see HU scheduling up and showing a commitment to keeping the program at a higher level. Some of us have been concerned since our old football friendly prez retired. Let's see if Cohen could rally the troops this year and put us in position to compete and win at UConn in '08.
