View Full Version : PROTIP: Keep Women Away From The YSU FB Program

Penguin Nation
September 23rd, 2018, 10:01 AM
Another chapter in the history of violence against women and the YSU FB program. Today's Youngstown Vindicator released a story detailing YSU's current co-DC recent history of domestic violence. This is not a "he said, she said." There is videotaped evidence, viewed and recorded by the Canfield Police of McNutt "swinging and hitting the phone out of her hands," as well as physical evidence of injuries to that hand documented by the police.

The issues raised in this article are: 1) that DV occured involving a YSU DC, 2) its concealment and inaction until the tOSU DV story went public, and 3) University policy regarding reporting DV was not followed.

Admittedly, this situation is not as sensational or gruesome as YSU's recruitment and re-recruitment of a convicted gang rapist recorded carrying around his victim's unresponsive body...but it does reveal a pattern of YSU FB tolerating and even promoting violence against women...as well as evidence of at least a temporary cover up. This is the same Athletic Department that lied to the media regarding "Ticketgate."

All of that in the setting of a recent loss to a nonscholarship school, and a 6-5 2017 record...this is a program in free fall.

Below are links and excerpts from today's Vindicator:

Youngstown State University officials claimed they received reports of an assistant
football coach’s involvement in a domestic-violence incident in April.
Yet, the university took no action until Aug. 7, six days after the start of a media frenzy around similar allegations at Ohio State University.

YSU President Jim Tressel, who the report said was aware of McNutt’s marital issues, declined to comment on the delay in action declaring it a personnel matter.

“[The OSU case] probably influenced our campus to look at our policies,” Athletic Director Ron Strollo said. “Anytime something like this happens, it gives you a time to pause and take a closer look at what you’re doing and try to get better.”

A time line assembled through the inspection of police, court and university records shows a number of events involving McNutt between Feb. 22 and April 19 that resulted in three calls to police, one police report, a mutual restraining order and a protection order issued against him.

A university policy states any student or employee who has obtained a protection order must inform their immediate supervisor and the university police department and provide the police department a copy.

YSU police Chief Shawn Varso said the department never received the order of protection filed April 19 against McNutt.

“In this case, for some reason, we didn’t get one,” Varso said.

The university report said McNutt self-reported the April 7 incident to football coach Bo Pelini who in turn told athletic director Ron Strollo in April “around the same time the incident occurred.”

But after the April report, nothing happened until August shortly after media reports on OSU football coach Urban Meyer having knowledge of a 2015 domestic violence incident involving his assistant coach Zach Smith.

The case commanded national media attention for the week leading up to the start of YSU’s investigation.

According to Canfield police records, an assistant Mahoning County prosecutor authorized a domestic-violence charge against McNutt but was advised not to pursue it once McNutt’s wife decided not to press charges.

She told a detective she “was made aware that McNutt would be fired from his job if criminally charged and that would risk her children not having health care and additional benefits.”

Someone in YSU's program was charged with domestic violence? How shocking. Wait, how many people are associated with YSU's program? What's the rate of domestic violence in the general public? We've got the makings of a real Title IX investigation here folks. Toxic Masculinity!. Rape culture! Rape! Rape!

YSU and OSU are so alike in so many ways...

I've said it before and I'll say it again

The reason YSU uses red white and black for colors is because OSU uses red silver and black. You can wear your OSU gear to games and fit in.

The connections and similarities between the two places - especially in regards to athletics and how it's run - are staggering.

You almost never seen an county prosecutor persuaded not to press charges after recommending charges because the other party decided not too press civil charges. The times that does happen? Almost always because of political influence related to high profile people/organizations

Incidents of racial discrimination have become all too common on college campuses across America (http://atlantablackstar.com/2016/04/01/students-at-st-marys-college-unsettled-by-on-campus-racist-acts-including-assault-arson/). This time, Alabama’s Jacksonville State University is under fire for allegedly condoning a “racially hostile educational environment.”
Former JSU student Jalen Green filed a lawsuit against the school June 28, claiming he experienced blatant racial discrimination while he was a member of the school’s Marching Southerners band, AL.com reports. The 38-page suit, filed in U.S. District Court, names the university, band director Kenneth Bodiford, vice president of student affairs Timothy King, an instructor, and two students as defendants.
Seeking damages and monetary compensation, Green’s lawsuit alleges he was subjected to “disparate treatment” and received physical “threats of violence for speaking out against the discrimination” he experienced. According to the Anniston Star, Green dropped out of school in 2015 after suffering mentally and financially as a result of the alleged racial harassment. Dude, you are too easily triggered.

Not news? Even though it was on the front page of the newspaper above the fold on the morning I posted this?

"daily all over the country at many universities" ? Not even close. The gang rapist could not get on any roster except Scumbag U.

"transparent" Did you miss the part about the cover up until the tOSU story came out, and how University policy was not followed (YSUPD not notified)? Why didn't Tressel, Bozo or moRon tell him what the proper protocol was?

FWIW...I've been posting on the cheerleader site, AGS, and when it was around, goguins.com and was a proud and vocal fan until Scum U recruited a rapist. Go look up my pre-rapist posts. Unlike you, I can't pay to see and then cheer for a gang rapist....no matter what uniform he has on. NFW.

Another poster was asking about the YSU rap sheet. In the case of the current DC, there are other allegations McNutt was forceful with his children when they didn't want to spend time with their father. I left that out as I was just sticking to what was proven.

There was "Ticketgate" which involved gross incompetence followed by a cover up and lies to the public and local media.

There's also the Ray Isaac saga: http://www.vindy.com/news/2011/jun/05/by-karl-henkel/

The NCAA’s report criticized YSU’s original 1994 investigation, saying, “the institution failed to exercise appropriate institutional control in the conduct and administration of the football program by not taking thorough and in-depth action to investigate possible” NCAA violations.

Though violations occurred, the 1991 title was not stripped by the NCAA due to its four-year statute of limitations.

I was willing to remain a YSU fan though the Ray Isaac scandal, Ticketgate, and the gross incompetence of the Athletic Department that has led to long term mediocrity in MBB and FB....but then came the recruitment of the rapist, which apparently was signed off on by the AD, President, and the BOT. So they all are Scumbags, and thus my alma mater is now known as Scumbag U. If any else doesn't see the problem with it, IDGAF. To me, they're all POSs. Having a DC hit his wife in front of the kids, and have an assistant Mahoning County prosecutor authorize domestic-violence charges, just re-affirms my impression of them.

Part of the problem here is the perception of Tressel and what he did or did not know. YSU was viewed as a rogue school by the NCAA because of the the Monus - Isaac scandal. Mostly because the statue of limitations had run out and YSU tried to appear to take voluntary punishment. While they had no evidence otherwise against Tressel, they didn’t believe him and came down hard on him at OSU for Tattoogate, which otherwise would have been a different penalty for another coach. And more to the point, I used to drink with Monus at the Boat House on Belmont Ave. in Liberty after YSU games. You didn’t have to be around him very long to see how corrupt he was or how far he would go to get what he wanted. Phar-Mor was a $ Billion fraud. Anyone who knew Isaac knew he was as poor as a church mouse and could not have afforded the luxury car he was driving. Tressel included. Coaches. The athletic dept. The players. And yet, they closed their eyes.

Bad News follows YSU. There is a background, a history and so other ethical snafus continue to haunt them.

So, in your view, if one is appalled by an all night gang rape, then surely they must know the victim? You know the rape was an international news story, right?

Quick question: Would you hire the rapist to babysit your kids? Why not? After all, he finished his tiny Juvie sentence. Most businesses do criminal background checks, and don’t hire sociopathic thugs. That’s because there are more than legal consequences to actions. Also, most ppl undersytand that the legal system is an absolute farce.

I think it’s absolutely hilarious that you call me a “lefty” and keep trying to introduce politics on a CFB forum. Save it for the politics page.

One last thing: your team sucks, has a rapist, a DC who hits his wife, an incompetent administration, and just lost to Butler. Just accept it. The 90’s are long gone.
