Montana brought them back against Montana State in 2008, for the first time since the 1995 championship team (worst kept secret). I believe they were brought back in 2013, or 2015, which would have coincided with Jamaal's playing career.

My sister brought back a Montana Grizzlies shirt after a college graduation trip out to the West Coast in 1972. It was gold with "copper" lettering. Decades later I had an argument with a guy who said that their colors were maroon and silver. I asked him when they changed it and he said in the mid 90s. I had to look it up.

I prefer the maroon and silver just because that is what I associate Montana football with. I wasn’t alive to see them in copper. I prefer the newer colors.

My understanding is that yes, Montana had a Texas connection, but at one point were told that Texas will not allow the Burnt orange to be used by any other schools, and also Montana was looking for colors that would be much easier to market, therefor you get the maroon and silver, which btw probably a good move as the maroon Griz script is one of the most easily identifiable if not the most popular logo in the FCS world.

I like the old school colors tho just because theyre so ugly that theyre awesome lol

Can't tell if the pants are white or some shade of grey/pewter. White pants would provide better contrast. Wouldn't want them to be more than a throwback/occasional use uni, but like ST_Lawson says, I'm not in the target demographic for this one.

Nope, it's for us and not even all of "us" really. When the Griz came out in 2008 with those on the energy in the stadium was unbelievable, electric, and still talked about almost every time any Griz fan gets into any discussion about the past. The entrance that day matched the intensity of any big playoff game.

At first some people were bitching the money spent on the throwback but they sold out so fast it created a bit of a dilemma for the Athletic Dept. On top of that I think they were provided by Nike anyway.

This. I was in the student section for that one and we lost our ***** when they came out of the tunnel like that! We were anywhere from 5-9 years old the last time the Griz wore those colors and it was still just as electric for us as well. If I remember correctly they warmed up in the regular maroon uniforms, right? And then came out of the tunnel donning the old colors as a total surprise, but such an ovation, which is impressive considering the fans were already stoked for the rivalry game. It's definitely one of my most sustaining memories from going to Griz games. It helps that the following result was pretty fun to see, too.

These are basically the same as the ones they wore for the 1995 20th. anniversary game against NAU (in 2015). I think the only difference this time is that the helmets are silver instead of white.

The Griz haven't worn the actual throwbacks since the '08 Bobcat game shown above, and they haven't worn the White & Copper road unis from that era since the 1995 championship game.

Nice game; hope you guys sent a big thank you card to the MSU QB for the gift wrapped turnovers that day. Missed two handoffs and I'm not sure I didn't see him say 'Here ya go big fella' on the INT. Easy to see how jacked up the Griz were that day.

Hehe, don't worry, you'll get another chance in a few years back up in MT.

As for the uniforms, you longtime Griz fans have historical/emotional reasons for liking that color scheme, and that's great. It doesn't really do anything for me because I don't have that connection and they're just colors to me.

I love it! This is the color of the uniforms the Griz were wearing when I first "discovered" Montana many years ago. This copper color is pretty unique. I do not know why the switch to maroon which is a fairly common color.

I liked these better; there's no doubt where this team is from...You need a magnifying glass to read what's written on the front of the above jersey. Its a good way to start weaning off the loser maroon though.
