Whichever voter has JMU ranked at #1 in his poll ballot has NDSU at #6. xchinscratchx

The margin of victory against Bye was not very big, so I kinda get it

Why can't we legitimize our poll yet? I know the answer, but it's **** like this, that grinds my gears.

How does Univ of South Dakota rise 15 spots by beating Northern Colorado, and losing to a FBS school? What are the coaches reasoning here?

Hey at least they dropped Furman and NH out of the top 25. We have a few still voting for them as well.....xconfusedx

This thing sucks.

At least THEY didn't give Youngstown State 8 poll points for an 0-2 start that includes a loss to Butler.

Agree Northern Colorado 15 point win at home was not impressive, but their 3 point FBS loss to 8-5 Kansas St on road (Massey #30) was very impressivec... Kansas St needed 15 points in Q4 to come from behind to win, including an 85 yard punt return.

So that was a very high quality loss, which should have bumped them higher a week ago. USD is a top 16 team from a year ago .. not sure it was fair to drop them from top 25 just because Streveler graduated.

Then, Kansas State got the ***** kicked out of them at home by Mississippi State. So may need to wait a bit to see how good they are.

At the time USD lost to Kansas st by 3, they hadn't yet played the Miss St game ... so the posters question related to USD jumping 15 spots. I pointed out that USD was a top 16 team a year ago, and questioned why were they out of top 25 after losing to a good FBS Kansas St by 3 in their first game ?

But you're right, we don't yet know either way, how good Kansas St is. Nor do we know how good Miss St is at this point. That door swings both ways .. right ?? Miss St finished in top 20 last year and has a lot back on offense, and plenty back on defense .. 17 of 21 starters overall.

I'm guessing Miss St winds top 10 or so this year. Lot of people like them to jump up the rankings. We'll see how USD does from here ... I think they will surprise some teams with life after Streveler and already deserve top 20 ranking.

I will say this - the new-found respect for Northern Colorado is surprising. Sac State gets their shot this week.

I know some people on here, self included, think Sac St can make the playoff this year. This will be a big one for them.

Agreed, Sac St played pretty well at times last year and I felt were a legit bubble team. They could certainly put some points on the board and had a strong run game .. though their defense was suspect.

If you're still talking about USD jumping 15 spots ... I don't think it's that at all. i think coaches poll just realized South Dakota deserved far better from prior week. Them being slotted 20-25 is only fair at this point.

I might be mistaken but I think the original comment about USD jumping 15 spots is an error in reading comprehension of the poll. USD received 39 points this week and are ranked 24. They didn’t go from 39 rank to 24 rank by beating UNC. After week one they were number 26 (orv) in the coaches poll. Therefore they moved up two spots for beating UNC. I do note they actually had less votes in coaches poll between week 1 and week 2.
