This is not any discussion of the game tomorrow. I post this in hopes that a lot of AGS folks here might learn something about my school's football history. I sometimes think that outside of the SoCon, Samford is a little bit of an unknown across FCS land. Granted we don't have the tradition and reputation that most ranked FCS teams do, but we do have a few things to crow about. This, IMO, is a well written article by FSU folks that compliments Samford and gives much credit to Samford for the part we played in the rise of FSU football to national prominence.

That's pretty cool. To FSU people, Bowden is revered to the level of just a bit below Jesus. When our women's basketball team played in the NCAA tournament, the pep band went with them and I was able to tag along. We played FSU in Tallahassee in the opening round and the day before the game, the band director, who had gotten his Masters and Ph.D. at Florida State (http://www.wiu.edu/cofac/music/faculty_staff_info/Matt_Thomas.php) arranged a tour of the stadium, where we saw the Bobby Bowden stained glass window. According to the tour guide, it's the largest non-religious stained glass in the country, although he said that some fans might argue that it doesn't really qualify as "non-religious".
