From the BSC, UC Davis is the likely team to beat an FBS team.

Which others?

Edit: 111 games against FBS in 2018

Seriously, I'd say Southern Utah has a decent chance over Oregon State. Beavers could be beat up pretty good by Ohio State the week before.

Pretty sure that coach was fired (and he prefers beating women), so they should be ok. xcoffeex

I suppose it is bad form to joke about that, and innocent until proven guilty, various other disclaimers for anyone offended on either side. xpeacex

Actually, according to Massey, the BSC team with the best chance to beat a FBS school is Northern Arizona. Although both are favorites, Northern Arizona has a 76% chance of beating UTEP while Davis has a 55% chance of beating San Jose State (1% for Stanford).

Kennesaw vs Georgia State is my most likely pick for a FCS victory.

Maybe McNeese can sneak up on BYU, but I doubt that will happend four games into the season.

I know Bohl is their coach, but I think we still have a better chance than other FBS games we've had

New coach playing at 7,000 feet in Laramie isn't a recipe for success. I'll be surprised if it's closer than 17 points....

Fordham over Charlotte?

Possible and I don't use that term lightly when it comes to FBS vs FCS games. Charlotte's program is full on dumpster fire. Fordham stunk last year but they got an entirely new staff. Breiner was no Joe Moorhead! The Rams almost always have quality FCS talent on their roster, especially at the skill positions. I think the Ram's situation is pretty quick fix. This should be a competitive, 4 quarter game.

For Idaho, we will get FBS money from FBS schools through the 2022 season. We will be playing two FBS schools each year for about $1.2 million a pop since it wasn't in the contract regarding potential drop down.

I am certain every new contract with a G5 school will have an updated clause regarding change in divisions.

PVAMU could beat Rice. The lone win for the Owls in 2017 was against a hapless UTEP team.

PV, according to Massey is going to have the 2nd strongest team in the SWAC behind Grambling. 11% chance of winning? After simulating the game, Rice 35, PV 18. Again on the other simulator, 40-21 loss.

Although we are definitely not expecting it, we aren't ruling out a surprise at Baylor on Sept. 1st. They have had 6 players transfer in the last 3 weeks. That doesn't hurt their squad as much as it would ours, but everything like that helps us....

Duquesne Dukes play two FBS teams in UMASS (#109) and Hawaii (#123 out of 130 teams, Massey). The percentage shot of winning either or both of those games is going to be a challenge. But, the Dukes have scheduled the right teams to do so.

Don't know if it's been mentioned, but Lafayette @ Army in a nobody gives a crap so no one will be watching afternoon of total dreariness. The only thing that matters here is that Army managed to get the game moved to the week before the Lehigh @ Lafayette game, putting a bad Lafayette team at an even greater disadvantage in a game they probably weren't going to win anyway. Why do some of us get so excited about these BCS blowouts? They are ALL a waste of time and energy.

Right. All of a 72 minute drive, w/ traffic. We'd seriously like to beat them as well. They have a heckuva' leader who has instilled the "intellectual brutality" mindset into their student-athletes.

I think they are going to use that Stanford smash-mouth approach w/ great athletes. They have twins @ the RB position (scat back types) coupled w/ a big bruiser who also has speed so it will be interesting. If we cannot control the LOS on O or D, we're toast.

Coach Dooley and staff recruited tremendous student-athletes (txfers) who should have an impact on our O and D. The WR position is ridiculously intriguing but the question remains... will the heralded QB have time to play pitch-and-catch??? can the OL control the LOS to open space for a few speedy RBs? Will discipline find this team?

This was Iowa's first loss to a non FBS opponent. The next day NDSU received 74 votes for the AP top-25 rankings (#27 overall), which is the most votes ever received by an FCS team, beating the old record held by North Dakota State in 2013 when they received 17 and were #33 after the 2013 season.[15] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_NCAA_Division_I_FCS_football_season#cite_note-15)

Are you sure on the bolded part? I swear App St was ranked 25th after Edwards put some smack down on #4 Michigan.

I pulled this from Wiki. It could be wrong. And, that Michigan game was amazing.

It was during my daughter's birthday party. I kept telling people "excuse me, I'll be right back." Every time I went to the television, another TD happened. Wow!

I'm pretty sure that game was the impetus behind allowing voters to vote for FCS teams in the big boy's AP Poll. IIRC there was some confusion about whether that was even allowed after that App St/Michigan game so App didn't get as many votes as they probably would've since not all voters knew they were even eligible. I'm pretty sure that tidbit is accurate though about NDSU getting the most points ever in the AP Poll for an FCS team after beating Iowa.

EDIT: I guess App St must've technically been ineligible still since they didn't get any votes in the AP poll immediately after that Michigan game (http://collegepollarchive.com/football/ap/seasons.cfm?appollid=958#.W23VWuSWwpU). The following week they received 19 votes though so that must've been when the FCS team eligibility change was made (http://collegepollarchive.com/football/ap/seasons.cfm?appollid=959#.W23Vs-SWwpU).

This game saw the largest victory margin ever by an FCS team over an FBS team, surpassing Lehigh's (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lehigh_Mountain_Hawks_football) 58–0 win over Harvard (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harvard_Crimson_football) in 1981, the year before Harvard and the rest of the Ivy League (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ivy_League) moved from FBS to FCS (then Divisions I-A and I-AA respectively). Portland State also became the first FCS team to defeat two FBS teams in the same season since North Dakota State in 2007.[2] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2015_NCAA_Division_I_FCS_football_season#cite_note-2) North Texas' head coach, Dan McCarney (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dan_McCarney), was fired later in the day.

Well, this is the last week before the season starts. It appears around 10% of the games are won by FCS teams. Here is to hoping 11 to 12 win against FBS teams this year.

For whatever it is worth, I'll definitely attend one FCS vs FBS game in 2018 (9/1: Villanova/Temple) and probably will attend two (9/15: Lehigh/Navy, if the Temple/Maryland game isn't close late and doesn't go long time-wise).

You have a rivalry game to start then a tough one with Colgate before heading to Folsom Field. That's a BRUTAL stretch. No wonder the bye comes in week 4. The Buffs should be pretty decent. The PAC 12 South is wide open. They could easily be an 8 win team with a break or two. I think UNH will do well to keep this within 3 TDs....

Due to a very unique situation with the drop down, Idaho will be getting paid FBS to FBS money for each of our games through 2022. About $1.2 per game.

I am certain lawyers have been updating contracts with G5 teams to make sure this doesn't happen again.
