Isn't the ninth game of the season very late for Homecoming?

Only in the southern conference do two teams have the cajones to play two time defending national champs for homecoming.

I like the idea of playing good teams for homecoming. A lot of alumni are more likely to attend the game if there is decent competition. It's hard to get non-die hard alumni to actually go to a homecoming game against the University of Northern South Dakota at Hoople.

Of course it's also more fun to win at Homecoming. xeyebrowx

The Webber Warrior Athletic program (http://www.webber.edu/athletics/index.html) is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and competes in the Florida Sun Conference.

Of course I can't say much since we open with Georgetown (KY).

Nice schedule...

One sub Div I, one FBS school and the rest FCS...my ideal schedule!

They play Notre Dame in Baseball and Azusa Pacific (a USD foe) in Football, so their athletic department must be doing OK.

Yes, but Georgetown (KY) College is Ayers alma mater, isn't it...so a little understandable. Also, Georgetown is at least an NAIA power.

Citadel should be 2-0 when they ride into Madison. Then let the spankin' begin. Hoo-ahh.

Furman played GSU for homecoming in '04 when they were ranked #2 and crushing teams. It just makes the win that much sweeter.

Yea, it's a good thing to not schedule a Dakota school for homecoming. xeyebrowx xeyebrowx Many a school has learned that we tend to win those games. (Montana, '03, UNI, '06, Southern '04, many Southland schools, Cal Poly '06) xwhistlex xwhistlex

The Citadel's homecoming game is determined by the date- not the opponent.

I wish SoCon football would adopt the same policy it has for baseball; no sub d-I's. If you really need the home games, schedule an NEC, Pioneer, or Big South school.

I was at The Citadel from 1986-1991 and back then, we usually had one school on the schedule that was from a lower division. Usually these were from SC, like Newberry, Presbyterian or some other school like that. At the same time, we also played one D-I team a year.

To tell the truth, I don't like the recent scheduling where we play two D-I teams a year. Especially ones that we have no chance of beating. Every school has fluff on the schedule, but I agree that it would have been better to try to schedule another FCS school during that week. The problem is that our AD probably held out for a potential D-I opponent that weekend, and when it fell through he had to find another school quickly.

As for Homecoming, it is always on that particular weekend in November. It doesn't matter who we play. We used to usually play either Marshall or Furman that weekend. Ask Marshall about having a losing record in Charleston when playing us on Homecoming, they were ranked #1 in the nation on one of those visits.

You do realize El Cid is a D-I team, right?

You play at least 7 D-I teams a year. xnonono2x
