has anybody seen a similar event for football at your school?

The Lafayette football program will hold an open combine for all students on Wednesday, March 21 at 4:15 p.m. at Fisher Stadium.

The combine will be run by the Leopards' football staff and feature testing in six areas: 40-yard dash, vertical jump, 300-yard shuttle, repetition bench press, the pro agility cone drill, and an agility station.

All full-time students, male and female, who wish to test themselves against the standards used for Lafayette's football team are invited to attend. There will be an opportunity to impress the coaching staff, and selected students may earn an invitation to participate in spring practice with the Leopards.

In all seriousness, do you wonder what is up coach Tavani's sleeve on this? Maybe he needs some bodies for spring drills? Maybe he hopes to find a couple "Rudy's" in the bunch? In any event, I think it's a great idea.

Of course, it could be the start of a really bad reality series too. :twocents:

Sounds more like an open tryout, which is pretty cool. Notre Dame still does it once in a while.
