The only thing that came to mind. A 4:1 B&PC stick places to bathrooms ratio seems appropriate

Nothing big going on but they are making preparations for laying down new turf. All the drainage work is completed and they are preparing the subsurface for the turf.

There is a new on campus arena for basketball being constructed which should be done late summer or early fall.

Richmond is supposed to be adding another level of luxury suites at Robins Stadium, as well as a new suite of offices. Both would go below the current level of suites and offices on both sides of the stadium. There is a bunch of work on new locker rooms and training facilities, but those are inside the adjacent Robins Center.

But from what I understand, Georgetown lost some major pledge funding for the project after the 2007-08 crash.

Guys on the Ivy FB Board said that Yale was going to install Field Turf at the Yale Bowl. The grass just looked awful last season...

Now word is that it's not happening.

A shame. Yale installed Field Turf at its baseball field--which is every bit as historic as the Bowl--and it looks really good.

Looks like a big stadium, Georgetown would struggle to fill 25% of it, they're better off in their little stadium where they can fill it.
Correction: It seats 20,000, but considering Georgetown seats 2500, that's still pretty big.

Wrong side of town. If GU can't get 2K to walk out of their dorms and stop by a game on their way to lunch, there's no way they're getting 15K to drive across DC.

https://app.oxblue.com/open/tuner/dcunitedstadium

Yes. There are over 50,000 alumni within an hour of the campus. Play and compete with a decent opponent, and people would take notice.

But those PL fans that cite Georgetown's poor attendance at perhaps the worst facility anywhere in Division I often ignore three truths.

1. No one goes to a stadium that has no parking. Thanks to endless construction, there are less than 50 surface parking spaces left on Georgetown's main campus. Fifty. Want to park a quarter mile away at the hospital? The remaining surface lot there is about be swallowed up by a 477,000 SF hospital addition. Public transit? The Metro rail is a comfortable 5/8 mile walk across Key Bridge. Parking in Georgetown proper is by permit only and urban garages run $15-$25 on a Saturday afternoon. M Street on a Saturday is reminiscent of the 405 Freeway in Los Angeles.

2. No one goes to a stadium that has no amenities. Want a reserved seat? Want to see a video board? Want to see a halftime show? Want restrooms that weren't hauled in from the back of a flatbed truck? Go elsewhere.

And the obvious...

3. No one goes to a stadium whose team does not win. Seventeen losing seasons in its last 18, no home wins in nearly two years, and opponents that frankly draw zero local interest. How many families are going to pile into the mini-van somewhere in Montgomery County on a Saturday morning and drive down to watch this?

Parking - There is plenty of free parking available at garages on campus on Saturdays. Surface would be better for tailgating, but I've never had to pay for parking at a GU game. Most urban schools don't have a lot of free surface parking at this level. Many don't have free parking of any kind within a mile of the stadium. All of the above schools still draw crowds

Reserved seat - The vast majority of schools at this level have most if not all seats as GA

Video Board - Many have thrived without one. People don't go to FB games to watch a video board

Halftime show - I know Lehigh tried has tried to bring their band on several occasions, GU basically said no, so self inflicted. That said, most fans outside of some of the HBCUs don't come to games to watch the halftime show.

Port-A-Potties - Yeah, your stadium is an eyesore.

Opponents that draw local interest - I honestly don't know who that could feasibly be. Villanova isn't going to draw thousands. There are a number of FBS schools that would, but most of those would be visitor fans, and even then, GU isn't in the same galaxy as those programs. If Howard and the Ivies don't draw crowds, then I honestly don't know who would.

Wins - As stated many times, if GU put even a minimum of support into their program, they could be a serious player in the PL every year. If you require regular home wins against ACC, AAC, and BigTen schools to draw crowds, then good luck with that.

I haven't checked all of them, but Georgetown has sold out at least a few games with Ivy visitors.

Sellout, as in 2,400 seats. The original question surrounded Audi Field in DC, which seats 20,000 and where 2,400 would look fairly bleak. Are 10,000 or 12,000 coming to Audi Field to watch Columbia or Brown, the last two Ivy schools scheduled to play Georgetown after 2019?

What kind of opponents might draw more in DC given their fan bases? Villanova, James Madison, Delaware, Richmond...which would take this thread (and program) in a much different direction and force Georgetown to institutionally address the constraints that limit competitive college football.

Not sure if we'd actually reach five figures. But Dartmouth would approach that number.

Have not heard that, no real reason for a student section as they have plenty of room on the visitors side. North end zone had tent rentals for catering that seemed to go over well. South end zone is for beer sales which always draws wellxdrunkyx

Stonybrooks North End Zone project is now completed. 2000 more seats and brand new concession and restroom area in the North end of the stadium. Also this summer a new surface will be laid down replacing the 6 year old surface we have now. Look for new graphics . The stadium hosts football , 2 soccer teams and 2 lacrosse teams every year . Plus high school football playoff games in November. So a lot of traffic happens at LaValle.

That's the finished stadium in years to come . It would seat about 22k. Presently stadium capacity is 10.5k with room for an additional 2kstandees. Next big building project is later this year when they begin construction on an indoor practice facility . Maybe breaking ground in June or July

Redbird 4th & short
April 24th, 2018, 05:15 PM
So Illinois State had their 25m renovation to east side in 2013, and is now the new home side .. old news. A year later, we got a much nicer/bigger jumbotron score board. This spring we are finally getting new turf ... a couple years past it's expiration date just based on how bad it looked at times. So yesterday, having just finished spring ball and game, they broke dirt .... well, uh ... rubber actually ... I guess.

Our fan board had a lot of fun with fact that ever since we fully renovated the former away/east side into the new home side .. our Red Bird Head logo (see below) is now upside down for our newly found east/home side .. players, season ticket holders, press box, etc. So the biggest debate on our forum was over what they would do with the Redbird logo ... so this caused us to name the turf project .. Project Flip The Bird !! Administrators never seemed to embrace this new name.

Obviously, us having missed playoffs for first time in 3 years, we were in bad moods and it was a really long offseason for Redbird Nation !!

p.s. opposition to "Flipping The Bird" was simply due to TV Cameras being on west side, so t ... for some of us, it was more about the attitude of it all !!!

Hancock Stadium ... stay tuned for continued updates! #BackTheBirds (https://twitter.com/hashtag/BackTheBirds?src=hash)pic.twitter.com/OqF6E3lvzP (https://t.co/OqF6E3lvzP)https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Dbj3fzZXkAAsYxQ.jpg

Powerwashing the stands is pretty cheap with volunteers. Wait..didn't you guys used to do that?

We, fans, did it back in 2001. The school has been doing it since. I think it is scheduled for being done this summer. At least, that is the rumor I thought I heard.

It was a hell of a lot of work, especially doing the underside like we also did. Stadium is bigger than you think.

Even though it is primarily a futbol stadium, I have heard many many great things about it as the FCS championship venue. How about ACU and UNA try it out next year? xsmiley_wix

xthumbsupx Would like that very much.
Alas, should we even be good enough, we would not be allowed (speaking of UNA) to play there next year. We could only go as spectators. Doggone rules for FCS newbies must be followed I reckon.xsmhx

So....a neutral site early-season OOC game at the place where NDSU will be playing a few months later? Could work.

Thanks Outsider1. We will get there eventually. Like all who have gone before us, we have to pay our dues. Looking forward to the day when our teams meet on the field again.

Would work for me but I reckon 2018 is set. Maybe the scheduling gurus can make it happen in the next few years.

That would actually be a sweet game, but our schedules right now are pretty booked. UNA as an early OOC game? I think that should look good to most anyone. They earned their respect in DII and will earn it in FCS. Before long they'll be needing to do some renovation & expansion I'm sure.

Yeah, I wasn't being entirely sarcastic. We have a home & home series set up with UNA in the next few years and I'm pretty excited about it.

Pretty excited to be playing the Leathernecks myself. Glad to see our athletic department scheduling some strong teams up front.

It's getting closer. Ready for some sand and then the filler. Photo taken by Kevin Martin from what looks to be from the top of the press box.

I agree. I am sure they will eventually develop a nice rivalry with in state JSU. Plus Kennesaw State is on the rise possibly, so that could be fun. With the reputation the Lions have for being a great D2 school, I expect them to be a good addition.

Really looks good! Refurbing the concrete bowl and maybe replacing the aluminum bleachers should be next. I like the look.

#BackTheBirds (https://twitter.com/hashtag/BackTheBirds?src=hash)pic.twitter.com/OqF6E3lvzP (https://t.co/OqF6E3lvzP)

ISUr finished full turf replacement at Hancock Stadium .. wish they posted a before/after side by side, but Redbird fans are pretty happy they decided on doing red end zones and player sideline areas, plus the alternating shades of green for field.

I think that's because the landscapers weren't told and accidentally mowed it right after installation .. they meant well. xlolx

Glad they matched the new wall / step paint to the turf; the old light blue didn't quite mesh. Looks really good!

Think of the goodwill at Goodman (and LFN) to recreate this in the south end zone:
