While Alabama A&M gave some money to a few kids who did not have scholarships, that were major contributors to the SWAC champions this past year, they were very limited this year in signing kids to scholarships, hence only having five recruits signed to LOIs.

Scholarships, or lack thereof, Jones said, contributed to A&M's low numbers.
"There were some cuts made last year and some of them were in scholarships," he said. "It seems bad that we only signed five kids, but that's what we had to do. If I had scholarship money to sign 15 kids I would have signed 15. We just didn't have the scholarships to sign that many kids."
