Just 5 meetings between these two fine institutions? Surprising.

One of these days, maybe they will play every year.

That makes sense. That means it will never happen.

This will be ugly.

Maybe, but Nova coming off FBS game historically plays sluggish football. There are always players banged up from the FBS game also. I say it takes a bit to get it rolling, but in the end it will most likely be a comfortable win.

ps- Ferrante is a Talley disciple. He won't run it up either.

I know. Last season's game was the 1st between the 2 since 1920.

That does not fill your cupboard in the least.

Villanova had a surprisingly tough game (won solidly but not overwhelmingly) against a terrible Leopards team last year.

He emptied the cupboard and never restocked. He should have been fired long before 2016. This is the 8th consecutive year with no offensive line. No coach in America keeps his job when a problem that big goes on for so long - except at Lafayette.

Why does this thread even exist? This won't be a game. It will be a human sacrifice.

Sort of agree carney bit people are endlessly attracted to train wrecks. :)

Nova was a top FCS team last season, but only beat Lafayette 31-14 last season. 2 scores from defense. I'm not so sure this isn't a classic letdown game as it's between Temple & start of CAA play (@ Albany).

I can see Nova floundering for a time in this game. It may not be as bad as everyone thinks & will have no reflection on how good Villanova will do going into CAA play if it's not a trainwreck.

Its worthy of a thread imho, but not a lot of Nova/Lafayette fans here to keep it going.

Plus Garrett was the OC for Rocco. That's good enough for me.

You should have called it "Lafayette vs. New Hampshire" then it would be the thread of the year.

Correct. I should have said, "This should be ugly". As shown by the Mountain Hawks in the past two weeks, you never know what you're going to get out of the head of college kid. If you're not ready to play, you get your ass kicked.

Agree. I'm expecting it to be a convincing win when the dust settles, but coming off the Temple game it's more than likely Nova will have some trouble finding its way for awhile. Usually after the FBS game there are a few injuries to nurse & the emotional letdown is there.

Id say it will be a score that after the 1st quarter or half it may surprise some how close it is than the difference in talent sets in and Nova pulls away.

I can see it 35-3 final with it being 14-3 at half. It's parents weekend & it should be a decent crowd by Nova standards.

That was a fun game for our backups & walkons. 90% of the offensive plays called in the 2nd half were dives & blasts between the tackles by the backups. Lafayette was so overmatched. It may be another 96 years before these 2 teams meet if this is an indication of talent difference.

49-0 at half. Smh.

Nova got to rest up its starters & be a little bit healthier for a interesting CAA opener next weekend in Albany.

Good luck to the 'Pards. I hope Garrett can turn that ship around a bit in the next few years.

On a personal note, now that the Lafayette game is over we've now finally entered the part of the Villanova schedule where I can root for the Wildcats every week the rest of the year. :)

Garrett, like Dick Biddle in 1996, has more than a rebuilding job. He has to restore player confidence.
