Saturday, September 16, finally marks the full blast start of FCS football in the 2017 season, as the Ivy League finally kicks off its still-short season.

Games:
San Diego at Princeton
Yale at Lehigh
Bryant at Brown
Harvard at Rhode Island
Ohio Dominican at Penn
Wagner at Columbia
Cornell at Delaware
Dartmouth at Stetson

My picks:
Princeton - Toreros were outmatched by a rebuilding UC Davis squad today.
Lehigh - will they move on from the beating at Monmouth?
Bryant - not sure about Brown this season
Harvard - no questions asked; Rams were blasted at home by Stony Brook (though the two CAA opponents played close in their money games in Week 1.)
Penn - Ohio Dominican is 0-2... and lost their first two games on the road.
Wagner - Columbia has a lot of question marks
Delaware - see Columbia
Dartmouth - Stetson is overmatched even in the PFL.

Agree except for Cornell/Delaware. If we don't get a sweep, this will be the game we lost.

If Yale beats Lehigh this week, there will be dark storm clouds over South Mountain in Bethlehem, Pa. Yale has a big "payback" mentality (or should) from last year's pasting, and Lehigh is coming off their worst performance since the Yankee Stadium debacle three years ago. Although the season is early, this may well be a "must" win game for Lehigh in order to regain any confidence heading forward. I would think, Coen will have the Mountain Hawks ready. If not, his seat may become electronically plugged in.

It's very depressing that Yale cannot seem to stay healthy under Reno. Something is terribly wrong.

According to Reno it was a non-contact injury during drills. "He just planted his foot wrong and went down"

Yale shouldn't be too upset about starting Deshawn Salter in his stead - he's run roughshod over Lehigh. In 2 games vs. Lehigh he's gained 384 yards rushing and 2 TDs.

The upsetting part is not Lamar, specifically. Yale should be deep at RB. It's that the pattern of injuries that has plagued this team the last few years is continuing..

As far as spreads are concerned, I'd take all Ivy teams.

I can see Dartmouth not running it up for whatever reason. They may feel bad for Stetson/Coach Hughes. The elements may not be favorable (rain, humidity).

But we should win handily.

Are we all so certain that Brown is that much better than Bryant? Bryant's chances are being minimized by their walloping at the hands of Maine. I picked them as an upset because I think there's a great opportunity that they could really capitalize on a slow start by Brown.

I don't bet on FCS football, but you could make the lines Harvard -13 1/2 and Penn -27.5 and I'd still take the Crimson and Quakers.

Rhode Island took FBS Central Michigan to OT before losing by a FG. I wouldn't be shocked if the Rams upset Harvard.

Would be quite the turnaround, given that Harvard beat URI by 30 and 31 points respectively in the last two years.

To me, it is pretty much a pick 'em and I will be rooting for the Big Green to win. I always root for the Ivies except when they play the Patriots, and even then, if Princeton is playing, I root for them against all Patriots except Colgate. :)

Ohio Dominican gave California (PA), a strong team in the PSAC, a very tough game in Week 1. With Penn only playing their first game, I think the Quakers will struggle a bit and win solidly but not overwhelmingly (by 14-17 points).

Rhody 17, Harvard 10 - Rhody looks to be back on track...

In progress:
Delaware 34, Cornell 7 4Q

Also:

Delaware beats Cornell handily, 41-14.

Ivy League went 6-2 this week. They swept the NEC 2-0, The Pioneer 2-0 and the Patriot League 1-0. The CAA opponents proved to much for Cornell and surprisingly Harvard.
