You know, when I look at UCA's schedule last year I see we played: (ranked this year)

FBS- Arkansas State- Sunbelt Champion. Upset Win.
#4 EWU- Good close game but halftime proved EWU could pass. Loss.
#3 Sam Houston- Man those 5 turnovers hurt. Loss.
#18 Illinois State- Nice comeback in the first round of the playoffs. Win
#19 Samford- Tough home loss. Very close game. Loss. Dominated all but ONE stat. The score.


I like playing top level teams. Shows fans where their program needs to be and what weaknesses need to be addressed.

I really do think SHSU is overrated. Fortunately for them, their only relatively challenging games are against Richmond (at home) and at Central Arkansas...so I think we will see them at or near the top every week. That is until playoff teams are seeded again.

need to shed light on this if they make a 9-2 run. I wish the "democracy-based" voting polls wold include an objective SOS ranking right next to their record. So when pollsters see a 7-1 team against the 60th ranked SOS and a 5-3 team against the 4th ranked SOS, they can make more informed decisions. Use Sagarin or Massey for SOS .. anything objective.

I guess so. Wouldn't be the first on the FCS level. We see it all the time with weaker conferences like the SWAC and the MEAC. Those conferences are great for overall game day experience but not very competitive on the FCS level. Granted for me it was just a fun thought, but do we seriously want to wait for teams like HBU, UIW and Northwestern State to be competitive?

However it seems in every thread about a poll there is a SHSU fan gloating about their ranking like we play in the ****ing BCS with a four team playoff. I haven't check this year but the angst on the SHSU board last year and then the gloating for weeks about being atop the polls was impressive. Like, I think some Bearkitten fans were beating off at night looking at the STATS poll.

Basically...

Gets old sometimes that people don't let it go over on the JMU board too, but for most part its entertaining at least. Richmond @ SHSU is probably the most intriguing match up of week 1, at least IMO. So many question marks going into that game from both sides.

Very good catch, caribbeanhen ... so final week of 2016, here are what Massey / Sagarin / Massey Composite

- NC A&T ranked 61 / 57 / 37 for going 9-3 against the 96th ranked FCS schedule

- NC Central ranked 65 / 60 / 45 for going 9-3 against the 97th ranked FCS schedule

So to answer your question, yes, NC A&T clearly deserves to be ranked a smidge higher than NC Central based on last season's performance.

And no worries, I have a simple 3 step solution for the FCS Coaches Poll:
- step 1 - as suggested by caribbean, swap out NC Central with NC A&T
- step 2 - add 30 to each
- step 3 - pat each other on back for getting a frickin' clue
