So, they basically just took the preseason all conference team and arbitrarily ranked them.

I always find myself clicking these links and always immediately regret doing so.

Feel the same way… looking at this list with a Purple lens and Staggs as Furman's DC I'd expect a couple of players to excel in the new system. Jay Reid at DT, Joe Farrar at OLB, and Tyler Voyles at MLB.

Interesting that Thomas Gordon is ranked 35th after his true freshman breakout season. At first glance it's great to see him get some love, Gordon is dangerous and is more than just a deep threat. I think he could be a top twenty player by the end of his sophomore season.

They have a Chatt OL playing for CIT. Grad Transfer? ;-)
No specialists included
5 of top 14 Players play for Sammy.
4 for Chatt.
3 for Woffy.
1 each for CIT & WCU.
0 for FU, MU, VMI, or ETSU.

Hard to believe that the best player on the Team picked to finish 5th is not better than the 5th best Player on the Team picked to finish 3rd.

Oh well - it's a screwy ranking anyway.

I can't say that I agree with all of the list, but let's be honest here. If we each made a top 50 list, they would all be different, and each would slant towards our own team. On this list I would include RB Darius Morehead of Furman. Injury prevented him from showing his speed and talent to the league, but to average 4.2 yards/carry against Michigan State sure did impress me. Another example - From what I saw in our Mercer Game, I would have to include LB LeMarkus Bailey. I won't even go into the Samford differences I would have had.

IMO, however, I'm glad to see most ANY SoCon listings whether I agree or not. I'm always quick to post them and I hope others on here will also do so. Nobody is forced to click on the links, or agree with the lists, but at least they are there for viewing and discussion.

I don't wanna make an entire thread about it so I'll do it here.

I mean, I think the collective SoCon fans on this forum could probably come up with a good list. Maybe we would even give reasons!

My two cents:

1. Thomas Gordon is going to be one of the top players in the conference on offense. He didn't play much early on and Furman was pretty much one dimensional most of the season and he still went bananas. I think that guy is going to terrorize defenses.

2. Antonio Wilcox is Furman's most accomplished returning runner, but I expect he will cede a solid number of carries to Deon Sanders, who missed all of last year with a knee injury. Sanders is completely off the radar, but might be the most talented of Furman's bigger backs.

Thanks for showing Morehead love… I keep forgetting he only saw the field for one complete game… the great news he got to redshirt. Just in case you haven't seen film on Morehead here's his HS film: http://www.hudl.com/profile/1766702/darius-morehead[/video]

He will have every chance in this new Furman offense to shine. BTW, Furman is loaded at FB, look forward to what Hendrix does with Wilcox (6-1, 225) Sanders (5-11 230) and Dirks (6-0, 240).

Furman has some battering rams back there.

I've never understood Dirks' usage. Furman has played him some with great success, and then you won't see him again for games on end. He ran all over Western Carolina last season and then hardly played the next game.
