Wow, just an absolute failure giving the award to that guy..................its why I put NOTHING into players winning awards like this because they are meaningless just like the Heisman

Very disappointing. The only time I saw him play was when JMU clobbered the Cats. He looked average at best.

Such a shame. Cooper Kupp shattered records everywhere in college football.

Congrats to Briscoe. Well-deserved after an historic year.

Kupp deserved it, crazy to be that great at the WR position in terms of yards touchdowns and catches in a career. Less impressive to pass a ton with a good WR core vs ****ty teams then getting made look like a JV high school team in the playoffs. Not saying Brisco didn't do work but QB's win it all the time.

hell even the EWU QB was more deserving IMO

Kupp with the better prospects for a future in football, enjoyed watching him..... Briscoe was on fire in the Southland though

Kupp not winning this award is a travesty. Best FCS player (based on stats vs level of comp and not pro readiness) I've seen in a while. +1 for the weak schedule awards xrolleyesx

Kupp was the best FCS player this year. I would have picked Gubrud over Briscoe also.

As my friend TexasTerror pointed out to me this morning, it helped Briscoe to have Kupp and Gubrud splitting votes

The SLC is a ****ing joke.

Many QBs would have great years against that conference.

Congrats to Briscoe, he had a hell of a year.

Kupp not winning really tarnishes the award. If you are not a QB it almost does not matter how much you excel at another position.

Kupp or Gubrud not getting it is a joke. You put either of those two in that offense against that abysmal schedule and they go way above and beyond what happened. Once again, Stats are what people look at and not level of competition and what they did to contribute to FCS football.

He looked pretty good against NW OK Panhandle St.

Well, Kupp played most of his games in the Big Sky.

and a couple against the MVFC so I agree he didn't have a ton of competition either.

It's a toss up really.

To be fair, he only played half a game against us.

True, if he had played the other half he might have won this thing.:D

Didn't play at all vs UNI.

Thank god. We still lost but it could've been real bad.

Bummer about Coop not winning, but Briscoe did have an amazing statistical season...wont lie and say that I wasn't upset about it last night.

I'd bet it was a case of split vote between the 2 EWU guys?

No wonder he lost, he hardly played against his two toughest competitors.

No doubt, that is what I am saying. He had 2 TD in the 1st 1/2 of the NDSU game so if you add another 6 TD's it becomes too much for Briscoe to overcome I think. Ah well, that is how it goes.

My Payton Vote was.

1. Kupp
2. Briscoe
3. Gubrud

It's also worth noting that while Briscoe set a new TD record, Gubrud set a new passing yards record moving past Heinike. He also led the nation in total offense by quite a bit setting a BSC record and coming 33 yards short of the the FCS record.

But if you're looking for the best offensive player in FCS football this year it was Kupp.
