Congrats to Erik Austell of the Charleston Southern Buccaneers for his selection

Four-time AFCA All-American Cooper Kupp of Eastern Washington and Norfolk State linebacker Deon King headline the 2016 AFCA Football Championship Subdivision Coaches’ All-America Team announced today by the American Football Coaches Association.
The AFCA has selected an All-America team since 1945 and currently selects teams in all five of its divisions. Beginning this year, the AFCA has started selecting a first and second team. What makes these teams so special is that they are the only ones chosen exclusively by the men who know the players the best — the coaches themselves.
Kupp, who became the first player in FCS history to be named a four-time AFCA All-American, leads FCS in receiving yards per game (126.7), is second in receptions per game (8.9), and is third in receiving touchdowns (15). Kupp has now broken 15 FCS, 11 Big Sky and 25 EWU records in his illustrious career. Cole led the FCS with 142 total tackles and was second in the nation with 85 solo tackles. He also recorded eight tackles for loss, two interceptions, four pass breakups and three forced fumbles.

I was talking to Jake Wieneke's mom and dad on Saturday at a pre-Christmas party, I had no idea his father was my gym teacher from 7th-12th grade, and we talked about how big of a snub it was that he got 3rd team All-American. Now he gets nothing on this, that is pathetic. Why does he keep getting snubbed for being 1 of the Top 2 WRs in the FCS and a Top 10 overall. This is why we should leave this kind of thing to AGS. At least we can look beyond stats and see where someone or something should be placed.

LOL @ Briscoe

In all fairness, he was obviously still hurting in our game. The way we pressed coverage though, I don't think they would have scored much more than a touchdown or two even if he was on target all evening.

JMU's No-Name defense has certainly stepped it up. A little too late for awards but producing when needed most. Congrats to these young men, a good portion of which will get drafted/make squads.

That was my first thought....seriously? He already owns idk how many conference receiving records...and still has a year left.

Maybe they're just saving all the awards for his senior year or something.

Not only that he torched TCU earlier in the year. Yes TCU wasn't as good as we all thought but he still torched a FBS P5 team.

Leaving Weineke off the list is a travesty.

Yards and touchdowns for sure.

Exactly....196 yards and 2 TDs....you know who else put up those kind of receiving numbers against TCU this year?....nobody.
TCU plays in the Big 12...they played Oklahoma, OK State, West Virginia....nobody from any of those teams up up that kind of yardage against TCU. And it wasn't "garbage time" yardage either...if you watched the game, you know it was close until near the end. TCU went 6-6 this year, made a bowl game, beat a top-25 ranked Baylor...they weren't top 4 like some thought they'd be, but they weren't horrible either.

He may not have led all the FCS stat categories, but really that's only because they also happened to have probably the best receiving TE in the FCS in quite a few years on the same team. How often do you see a team with two players over 1200 receiving yards...and one of them is a TE? If half of what had gone to Goedert went to Wieneke...like how it would work with most teams...Wieneke would have been 200 yards ahead of Kupp.

Agreed, Lauletta should have been 1st team.
