MVFC PLAYOFF Predictions SEMIFINALS

Welp, a lot of people had good days, but a lot of us had bad days, and a couple of teams had no shows hurt their score. I think a couple of people tried to jump in on the fun late and a couple tried to jump back in after missing a week. Unfortunately, you miss, you're gone. If you're late, you can't get in on the fun. There's always the season long contest next year and the playoff one next season as well. Also, dewey completes his OT victory against me for the season competition, all that he needs to do is make picks the next two weeks. Congratulations. Ya dick xlolx. In another surprise, one of the leaders missed 3 of four games to drop back into the chaos of the mindless masses. So next post, standings. Post after that, matchups.

Wow. I cannot pick YSU and Eastern Washington. Both teams have different styles and strengths no one except the Dakotas can shut down our run game. we can dominate TOP and keep the ball away. I also like our defense with its strength being in the pass rush, but Eastern Washington probably has the best skill people in the FCS. going to be interesting to say the least. I am going with NDSU. They look unbeatable now

James Madison at North Dakota State James Madison Taking the plunge. Picked this in the bracket challenge. The Dukes have a tall order breaking the streak. Both teams have looked good so far in the postseason, but I have to pick one. JMU moves the ball enough, gets the win.

Youngstown State at Eastern Washington Eastern Washington The Eagles are at home, and just might be the best team in the country. Penguins have had a good run, and I expect a decent showing, but too far to travel, too much offense to stop consistently.

The Bison averaged 220 yards rushing against 4 teams that statistically have better run defenses than JMU. Plus 3 of those teams are conference teams and they know the Bison better than OOC opponents. Heck they ran for 240 on the #24 ranked FBS defense.

Hats off to the Dukes if they can contain the Bison rushing game. But considering they have not come up against a rushing scheme like the Bison's, I think they are going to struggle to defend it. I suspect they will stack the box to stop the run but that will be dangerous with ES's running ability and passing.

I was more nervous about SDSU than this game.

The 4 teams that have better run defenses that the Bison played are: UNI, Ill State, Youngstown and Chuck South.


JMU's defense is ranked #31 giving up 348 yards/game. SDSU's is ranked #74 giving up 403 yards/game. Stats wise, yes, JMU's defense is better than the Jacks.

Bison should be able to run on this defense.

I've seen both JMU & SDSU up close as I attended both games vs. Villanova.

I like JMU on the offensive side of the ball more than SDSU. With the exception of their stud TE the SDSU was not that impressive given the pre game hype. . Granted 1 game & a snowy field, but with the exception of Goedaert, who is a beast TE, SDSU offense lacked the speed that JMU will bring to Fargo. I know the SDSU QB was POY in MVFC , but I think Schnor is at least a cut above if not more. Both teams have huge offensive lines & JMU has far superior backs. They should give NDSU problems offensively.

Defensively, I like JMU slightly better than SDSU mainly because of the quickness & cover capability of the secondary. Nova couldnt capitalize on either secondary as they had a pedestrian passing game in both games. I liked SDSU upfront as that 94 was a load. JMU also is decent upfront, but I think they will have issues with the power run game of the Bison. LBs are very close in talent. The heralded RS frosh LB was good, but really didn't see him make a lot of plays. I thought Bobbit was better that day. JMU with Steele & Ankrah are solid at that spot for sure.

That said. JMU isn't playing SDSU.

i'd love for the CAA to knock off the 5 time defending champ in their dome. It's not going to be easy, but I do think JMU brings more to the table than SDSU in terms of team speed & overall talent.
