Agree, looked like a pick to me. That being said, whatever their angle was must've been so strong, the said it "confirmed" the call. If it's not clear to them, they say the call "stands". So, it wasn't perfectly clear to me, but looked like a pick. Looked clear to them it wasn't.

The top seeds have been fluid the last few weeks. A squeaker against a 3-8 team and the possible loss of the team's best player wont be pluses for the committee.

Ah, gotcha. I think EWU's chances are still good of being 1 or 2, but could see that change if there is a very dominant win against a top team, like you guys throttling UCA, or the Citadel beating UNC. Outside of that, I think PSU could easily have been 6-5, being a play away in three of their losses to being wins. Portland State is in the top half of teams in the Sagarin, and Massey composite. And this was a "rivalry game". I don't think this win hurts EWU, as other wins could just add to the luster of SHSU and the Citadel. If JSU win's big, their victory could create movement as well.

It's all speculation but I don't think it was JSU's showing last week that dropped them from #1 to #3, I think it was just a "recalibration" after extensive discussion so it was really the collective showing from the whole season that dropped them. If anything, JSU's performance against SEMO the week before was more deserving of a drop and they hung on at #1 that week.

I just don't think there's any rhyme or reason to these first 3 weeks of rankings from the committee and there probably will be some curious movement again from last week's rankings come Selection Sunday. I hope none of the top teams try to run it up in an effort to impress the committee, it's not good for the game IMO.

They were leading Cincy at halftime and Hawaii in the 4th quarter before turnovers and penalties caught up with them - they beat Hawaii everywhere but the scoreboard. Had they scheduled some Southland teams they would be in the playoffs this season. Had they not slipped up at TSU they probably would be anyway. When you have no margin of error, an injury can change everything.

This team scares me. We should win, but they aren't a bad team.

They honestly should have been perfect. Their 5 turnovers at TSU killed them. Had they not played 4 non-FCS games they could have easily been a 9 win team this year.

It's unfortunate how many FCS teams choose to/must follow this protocol!

Simpson sure as heck didn't want to play those games. You can find his rant about it in the weekly OVC teleconferences and listen to it if you want.

Who's schedule is elite? NDSU? I won't argue against that. They play in the MVFC. That is the toughest conference in the FCS.

EWU's schedule was decent. I wouldn't call it elite, regardless of what any ranking system says. The win over WSU was huge. Nice loss to NDSU. You got UNI and Montana at home.

The rest amounts to a pile of wins over mediocre Big Sky teams. Your #2 team lost to a .500 CAA team. Your #3 team lost to a MVFC bottom half team - and you avoided playing both of them this season anyway. You did play the bottom 4 teams in your conference though. Outside of NDSU, your schedule wasn't significantly tougher than ours. The bottomfeeders of the BS conference are no better than OVC teams. Before you argue, consider that Sac State had wins over Montana State and that tough Portland team you guys just beat...and got waxed by a D2 team that is 4-6 on the season. Was your schedule tougher? Probably...marginally. You beat Wazzou. Nicely done. I would give you a cookie if you were in Indonesia. You lost to NDSU and made it look good. So did Chuck South.

EWU is a great team and you guys have had an impressive season... but to make it out like the difference in our schedules is massive is just homerism. I think if we swapped schedules, neither of our records would change. If you come to Jacksonville in the playoffs, I think we win... if we have to go play on that red atrocity you have, it will be tough.
