No. 17 Eastern Illinois at Tennessee Tech
Tucker Stadium (16,500) • Cookeville, Tenn.
October 15, 2016 • 6 p.m. • TV: OVC Digital Network

NOTES TO KNOW
• Eastern Illinois won its fourth game this season beating No. 25 Tennessee State 35-34 to improve to 2-1 in the OVC. It was the fifth time that EIU and TSU had met with both teams nationally ranked. EIU is now 4-1 in those games.

• Devin Church (http://www.eiupanthers.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=5083) scored three touchdowns in the win over Tennessee State with one rushing touchdown and two touchdown receptions. It was the second time in Church's career that he had three touchdowns in a game. Last season against Austin Peay Church had three touchdowns (2 rushing/1 receiving) during the 40-16 victory over the Governors.

• Devin Church (http://www.eiupanthers.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=5083) was named the OVC co-Offensive Player of the Week following the Panthers win over Tennessee State. He rushed for 94 yards and caught seven passes for 37 yards in the victory.

• David Johnson (http://www.eiupanthers.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=5167) was named the OVC co-Defensive Player of the Week following the Panthers win over Tennessee State. It was the second time in three weeks that the South Carolina transfer has won the OVC weekly defensive honor. Johnson had nine tackles with 1.5 for loss and a sack.

• For the second straight season Eastern Illinois beat Tennessee State with a defensive play to end the contest. Last year EIU won in overtime, 25-22, as Jourdan Wickliffe (http://www.eiupanthers.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=4620) picked off a pass after the Panthers had kicked a field goal during their offensive possession. On Saturday Nick Horne (http://www.eiupanthers.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=5097) batted down a long pass as time expired. It was Horne's third pass break-up of the game.

• Eastern Illinois defense limited Tennessee State to just 76 yards rushing on 35 attempts Saturday night for a 2.2 yards per carry average. It was the first time this season the Panthers have held an opponent under 100 yards rushing. The last time EIU held an opponent to under 100 yards rushing as a team was last season against Eastern Kentucky. The Colonels had 40 yards.

THE SERIES
• Eastern Illinois and Tennessee Tech will be meeting for the 23rd time with the Panthers holding a 16-6 all-time series lead. EIU has won four straight in the series including a 51-20 victory in Charleston last season. EIU's last loss to the Golden Eagles was in 2011, a 31-20 set back in Charleston. EIU is 8-2 at Tucker Stadium since joining the OVC in 1996.

EIU by 10....is what I'm hoping for. Anything to make our non-conference schedule look a little bit better ;)
