Yeah that's just a list of prospects not committments. Altough, Childers has committed and starts school this month so they probanly won't take another QB.

I think Jake will be a great pickup for anyone. He's a solid kid. Wish Furman had some wiggle room but the Paladins got their #1 tightend.

Seth Skogen WR/TE 6-2/211
29th ranked player in Tennessee. 2 star Rivals.
Broke single season Chattanooga record for receptions (98) and receiving yardage (2,043) his junior year...Also broke the single game mark with 310 yards and five touchdowns in one game.

Anyone have anything for UNH commits/prospects?

Two UNH committs that we have seen in our local papers and recruiting info were:

1) Chaz Cervino (Rivals 2 star) 5-10, 180, CB: Wayne, NJ

2) John Murray (Rivals 1 star) 6-4, 255, DE: Aston, Pa

I am sure there are others but these are 2 I've seen. There is some other UNH recruit info on another string on this board that you may want to look at.

Maine has received a verbal commitment from 2 time All-State QB Chris Treister of Portland High School. Treister passed for 18 TDs and 1,846 yards and rushed for 8 TDs and 574 yards as a senior. He chose Maine over UMass, UNH, Harvard, Dartmouth and Brown.

The PL teams don't publish this stuff. What we hear is word of mouth, second, lots of rumors, etc. From what I hear, we're on a number of recruits short lists that include the academies, ivies and other PL's and a few 'lesser' BCS schools..

Clarkston running back ready for Georgetown, Bucknell visits

Clarkston running back Isiah Bell will visit Georgetown on Jan. 20 and Bucknell the following weekend.

The 5-foot-7, 170-pound Bell, who carries a 3.6 GPA, has been clocked at 4.43 seconds in the 40-yard dash. Bell suffered a setback during his senior year when he broke his foot in the first half of the season opener against Blessed Trinity.

“Isiah had decent credentials as a junior,” Clarkston coach Wayne Jones said. “He was our backup running back [in 2005].”

Walker running back turns heads at Harvard

Walker running back Charlie Houston, who rushed for over 600 yards in eight games, will play at Harvard if he gains admission into the Ivy League school.

Houston has a 4.26 GPA and scored a 1520 out of a possible 1600 on the SAT. Houston also is considering Division III schools Washington & Lee, Kenyon and Sewanee.

Walton’s Wierson hearing from Lehigh, Samford

Lehigh and Samford are showing interest in Walton’s Matt Wierson, a 6-foot-1, 245-pound offensive lineman.

“Matt can play center, guard or tackle on offense,” Walton coach Ed Dudley said. “I think he’ll play center in college. He’s real quick and athletic.”

Buford’s Hendrix commits to Furman

Buford standout wide receiver David Hendrix committed to Furman University this weekend after officially visiting the Greenville, S.C., school. The standout 6-foot-5 receiver chose the Paladins over Ball State and UAB. He is the son of Mark and Patti Hendrix.
Hendrix caught 34 passes for 731 yards and eight touchdowns for the 12-1 Wolves. He leaves as one of the program’s all-time leading pass catchers — he ranks in the top three in receptions and yardage — and he also intercepted five passes on defense as a senior. Though Hendrix is the first senior Buford football player to commit, he won’t be the last.

Head coach Jess Simpson said offensive lineman Ben Jacoby is currently leaning toward Ball State. Defensive end Brandon McEachern has been offered by Georgia Southern and UAB and Trey Hunsucker and Chase Hudson are both receiving heavy interest from schools in the Ivy League and the Patriot League.

I don't think any team can publish this stuff anyway - it's against the rules to comment on recruits prior to signing day. Most of the info you see if from fan web sites where they piece together all the hearsay stuff you say as well as actual newspaper articles (sometimes very obscure ones).

The amazing thing is that a surprising number of times, the message board chatter is correct!

Which is the perfect segway - I posted all the rumored names for Lehigh I could find on my blog today.

I'm psyched, we got Terry Glenn!
================================================== ===
January 4, 2007

Sterling, VA - Senior quarterback Terence Glenn has become the latest Stone Bridge player to garner a Division I football scholarship, accepting an offer from the University of Rhode Island last week.

Glenn, who guided the Bulldogs to a 23-3 mark, consecutive Group AAA Liberty District championships and a Division 5 Northern Region championship in 2005 in his two years as the starting signal caller, becomes the latest Mickey Thompson-coached player to earn a scholarship.

Stone Bridge senior left tackle Andrew Nuss signed last fall to play at Notre Dame, and senior tailback Devon "Y'Lou" Brown - the region's offensive player of the year after rushing for 1,744 yards and 29 touchdowns in 2006 - has a number of offers from Division I schools on the table. Junior defensive back Jeron Gouveia, the region's defensive player of the year this past season, will be one of the state's most highly recruited players next year.

Rhode Island, a I-AA school affiliated with the Atlantic-10 Conference, went 4-7 under head coach Tim Sowers this past fall. The Rams deploy an option-style of offense that will fit well with the dual-threat skills of the 5-foot-11-inch, 170-pound Glenn, who passed for 2,680 yards and rushed for 1,216 yards over the last two seasons.

It's not that hard, really. If enough fans are on a message board and if they are somewhat scatterred around, it's not odd to have a guy see an article in a local paper that mentions so and so giving a verbal committment to a school. That's where most of the information comes from and you're right, it's very accurate.

Two OL commit to ASU...

Linemen Josh Akers of Virginia Beach, Va., and Daniel Kilgore of Kingsport, Tenn., have committed to play football at Appalachian State, their high-school coaches said yesterday.

Akers (6-2, 265) started on offense and defense for three seasons at Kempsville High School, and Kilgore (6-3, 280) was a three-year starter at center and an all-state award winner at Dobyns-Bennett High School.

Akers and Kilgore join center Mario Acitelli of Charlotte Catholic and wide receiver Josh Johnson of Avery County as players confirmed to have committed to the Mountaineers. All can sign binding letters of intent Feb. 1 when the NCAA signing period begins.

Kilgore was an all-state first team selection in Tennessee's highest classification this past season. Coach Graham Clark, a graduate assistant at Appalachian in 1979, said that Kilgore chose the Mountaineers over Eastern Kentucky and Middle Tennessee.

"I think he's a great fit for Appalachian," said Clark, whose teams were 32-5 in Kilgore's three seasons. "We're primarily a Shotgun team, and in three years we've never had a bad snap."

Akers, who played every position on the offensive line, was primarily a defensive tackle at Kempsville for Coach Jeff McGowan, who was a tight end at Appalachian from 1993 through 1996. Akers had 10 sacks this past season for an 8-2 team.

"He's a good athlete, uses his hands well and is very coachable," McGowan said of Akers, who had offers from Elon, The Citadel and VMI. "He could play either side of the ball."

McGowan said that the Mountaineers are recruiting Virginia's Tidewater area a bit more this year. "It's good to see them here. This area is a hotbed for football. You look at Virginia Tech, and nine of their 11 defensive starters are from the Tidewater."

Acitelli (6-2, 270) is an all-state offensive lineman who played for an unbeaten Charlotte Catholic team that won the North Carolina Class 3-AA championship. Johnson (6-2, 185), a Shrine Bowl pick, caught 101 passes for 1,408 yards and 17 touchdowns for an 11-3 Avery team this past season.

As far as Virginia kids are concerned, the Virginia Preps website does an outstanding job of tracking recruiting. They have a list of over 60 commitments so far.

http://www.virginiapreps.rivals.com/

W&M has three commitments that I know of.

Terrence Riggins - Newport News, VA - 6'1" 217 LB/RB
Jake Marcey - Woodberry Forest, VA - 6'5" 290 DT
Mitchell Hidalgo - Banks, OR - 6'2" 210 DE (preferred walk-on)

Riggins is an outstanding athlete. In track last year he had a 50' shot put, 6' high jump, and 44' triple jump. Reportedly runs a 4.6 40.

Marcey is defending state heavyweight wrestling champ, and won the Beast of the East hvywt. title. He was 1st team all-state DT, after making 2nd team last year as an OT.
