View Full Version : Did the 8 team seeding for playoffs get voted on?

I read where the 12th game got voted down.

I know last year a proposal was made to seed 1-8 in the playoffs instead of just 1-4. I understand it was to be brought up again this year.

Do any of you know if this was in fact voted on and what the result was?

Seeding 8 for the playoffs wouldn't require a vote by all D-I representation. That's a decision that could be made at the FCS level.

I don't think the issue is entirely dead and if FCS leadership could make the financials work, they'd probably do it. Right now there doesn't seem to be any overwhelming desire to seed 8, at least that I've read.

I am sure the NCAA makes more money if there are bids for playoff games.

Not necessarily, especially if it translates into more teams getting autobids who can't cover their guarantees with ticket sales.
