Teams have definitely been having issues but some of the calls or non calls have been horrible even for a HS officiating crew. Teams need to make adjustments to how the refs are calling plays like holding and blocking etc. Hopefully both teams make some adjustments and the refs read the rule book during the halftime break and we see a well played and officiated second half. I'm not holding my breath.

The game 6 years ago had maybe 2 questionable calls, with no clear video evidence. This game has had at least 6, with clear video evidence to overturn. Not even close. Are bending over for the bi-son.

That being said, some of these rules that create drive killing penalties, such as illegal receiver downfield when a lineman crosses the line of scrimmage, or the cut-block that has been a staple of the game and a hard habit to break are tough. Between both teams mistakes, those rules, and inept reffing, it is creating one of the strangest games I've ever seen.

NDSU is solid in every phase. But I'm pleased to see EWU overcome a lot to still be in this game, even with all of the adversity and mistakes we've made, and the drive killing, touchdown killing penalties. Feels like we're climbing a mountain!

I believe the Bison were penalized more than the Eagles..


EWU - 9 penalties for 67 yds
NDSU - 13 penalties for 137 yds

I think play calling on both sides was questionable to say the least for both teams on both sides of the ball, but it was nothing compared to the horrible officiating.
