If the O line stays healthy and Coach Eck can get some meanness back into them, it could be a great year. If not, look for more of the same especially vs UNI and NDSU. If he gets them to play with an attitude, I think they take one of those games. Otherwise they won't be close.

Bears practiced today. Upper classmen led while the freshman puked their guts out. It was only 99 degrees probably 110 heat index. Receivers looked locked in while the defense was slapping down passes left and right. Good practice. Lots of personalities showed today. Some not so good but they were battling.

I agree with what you said but I can't forget what head coach Stiegelmeyer (sorry I am sure I mispelled that) last year after the NDSU win I Brookings about he doesn't think everyone on the SDSU roster believes they can beat NDSU or something like that. Especially with the game in Fargo this year. That was a wow moment for me.

I was the one joking. TTU has a 2-3 year-old, very nice indoor practice facility/weight room - I assume this pic was a part of their new 'brand' of being 'tough,' etc. The coaches have been praised for injecting a lot of enthusiasm, interest and variability (with offseason training, e.g.) with the program...

Jaylen Hill will start on one side at corner and it will likely be between Al Harris and Pat Porter for the other corner spot.

No, I don't think it is a shot at NDSU. He's just being silly. From what I've heard Eli looks really sharp right now but they are limiting his throws in practice to make sure he doesn't overwork his arm. We have five quarterbacks at camp right now to share the load.

Grass also joked Roc Thomas looked "slow, not very explosive" before saying, "He's looked like he's always looked -- an explosive athlete."

Wow! Thanks for all the positive responses on the kid. I know it didn't directly speak to what is happening on the practice field but I thought it was a heck of an accomplishment I think he knows that being 6'2" and 305 lb offensive linemen that has played backup to a 6'7" 315 all conference lineman the past two years isn't going to get him the resume to get an NFL contract. But his effort in the classroom is the same as the effort he gives on the field. I don't know if he will return for his senior year of football next year as a graduate student but it wouldn't surprise me if he did.

IT WAS HOT!

The Qb's threw the ball and the Wr's tried to catch it while the Db's tried to prevent it. Oh, and the OL tried to block.

The RB's ran with the ball while the OL tried to block some more. The Rb's were tackled most of the time.

The kickers kicked and the punters punted.

It was exciting, wasn't it. ;)

Last year UCA had a defensive end that not only finished his undergrad degree in 3 years but since he redshirted his freshman year he was able to finish his graduate degree, an MBA, in his last two years....oh and then went onto the NFL. Weather has been affecting the Cowboy practices. They were scheduled for a 4:30 practice yesterday right about the time some thunderstorms rolled in. I left a booster club meeting at 7:45, the stadium lights were on, but they still hadn't made it on the field.

Samford's first scrimmage of fall camp was mostly to evaluate the new players. From what I saw, yesterday, I am thoroughly convinced that this is one of the best group of WRs in all of FCS, and that Hodges can definitely get the ball to them. Secondary looked very fast with more depth than I realized. My big unanswered question, however, is how good will our front 7 be, especially against the TO and power running? The answer to that question, IMO, will determine our season. Hatcher, then Hodges talks about the practice in video.

Not much rain in Abilene. We are one week in. First scrimmage observations: Defense is ahead of offense. Not unusual for most schools early on, but something of a rarity for ACU. Depth at D Line is impressive. Too many new wide receivers and a new QB for pitching and catching to work like a well oiled machine. No depth on the OLine. 6 guys are game ready and we have no reserve tackles. We are an injury away from another dismal season.

Nice to have back a starting CB, OT, and PK who missed all of last season due to injuries.

SDSU had media day yesterday. Apparently the QB situation isn't any clearer, but it sounds like both guys are playing really well. Also sounds like the coaches are pretty excited about some guys stepping up as the #2 and #3 receivers. That would make the offense REALLY dangerous having a solid 2&3 receiving threat to go along with Wieneke and our stud TE Goedert.

Fans excited to catch a glimpse of Washington-Grizzly Stadium's fancy new turf and prized senior captain quarterback had to settle for just one check mark on the list Monday.

Brady Gustafson, the Grizzlies' returning starter and leader of the Montana offense, took it easy in the first of three fall scrimmages. The passer handled a pair of short series before retreating to the sidelines as a spectator.

Though that was quite by design.


Montana's second-year head coach Bob Stitt utilized Monday's action as a live-fire tryout for the backup quarterback job between neck-and-neck reserves: senior Chad Chalich and junior Reese Phillips. It became a necessary evil to bench Gustafson today in order to better know what's in the armory tomorrow, Stitt alluded.

Hey 94...have you had a chance to go to any of the scrimmages or practices? If so, do they look as strong as the media makes them appear to be? Being the conference favorite is great but is there any news noteworthy for SLC fans that might give the second or third team place hope of a shot at least sharing the title?

I've noticed our coach saying, "but we're young" on different occasions and the roster shows that so I'm not setting my sights too high. I just want that magical "depth" that all these playoff teams seem to have...xlolx

Hey 94...have you had a chance to go to any of the scrimmages or practices?

I'm planning on going Sat. in which they scrimmage again. This offense will be hard to stop, the QB spot has been an upgrade to last year and with the real possibility of a passing attack this season, it could be another record breaking year for the O. So many weapons to use and it will be tough for a defense to cover them all. The Off. is about where it left off last season in regards to tempo and they want to go even faster this season. Sam has the deepest depth of any bearkat team I can remember so fresh legs will be on the field all the time.
The defense has focused all camp on fundamentals and tackling. It will be interesting to see them finally go up against some one else soon. Very hard to judge the defense that is trying to contain that offense. Is the defense that bad or is the offense really that good?

For Prairie View A&M, we're continuing to make strides. The offense looks really different w/out all-world Johnta' Hebert in the backfield but oddly enough, it looks awfully bigger and stronger :) .

Our defense is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay ahead of our offense prolly due to knowing the plays/tendancies upfront since they go @ it almost daily.
