I was not there and I don't live in Dayton any more. I wanted the game to be video streamed.

I don't have data to confirm attendance and the chowing down issue...other that a guess from when the crowd gets panned in a video shot.

No cheerleaders and no band. It certainly wasn't Ohio State -- 100,000 fans for a practice at $5 per head. The rich get richer.

Think small, be small. Stop blaming others for their success would be a good start.

That was precisely the battle cry coming from the D3 schools wanting to give Dayton the boot out of D3 and into FCS.

What are you going to do when the NCAA comes for you -- booting NDSU out of FCS into FBS? Better make plans to expand that 19,000 seat stadium because you're next.

I was thinking the MAC (Mid-America Conference) or the Sun Belt would be realistic. NDSU would go the same kind of route as Marshall by way of the MAC.

NDSU will not/should not join anything less than the B12 or B10. Which won't happen. We don't want to play irrelevant teams in a worse conference than we currently have and travel farther.

Yeah, I don't see that being a great move long term for NDSU if they went to the MAC or something similar. Eventually it won't be exciting to have Northern Illinois come to play, and playing for nothing more than a chump bowl game will eventually get old for the non hardcore fans. I know a lot of your fans drool over that idea and some think if they did well enough they could get into the B1G or BXII, but the B1G showed its not about how good a school is when they grabbed Rutgers.

Rutgers is one of the top schools in the world (#50 currently) and they have media market **potential**. That is everything the B1G wants. NDSU would need to ramp up its academics obscene amounts to be considered for the B1G. Probably to the tune of $500 million annually in additional academic spending, and all the other growth that comes with that. We can't even come up with an extra $5 million annually to join an FBS conference, lol.

If NDSU UND SDSU and USD were all consolidated into one school it would probably be a B1G school. But, that is about the only way that it would be feasible.

I was talking from a football standpoint not academic.

I realize that, I elaborated a little bit by editing the post. Maybe someday Rutgers won't suck. A friend who is ABD at Rutgers said they are dumping a lot of money into athletics since they got the B1G invite. Maybe things will turn around a little for them.

Dayton attracts smart players that want to win championships. Quality of education makes selling the non-scholarship program easy for Rick Chamberlin.

The only thing I object is them doing this during the academic year. Do it during the semester/quarter break, not before finals.

I'm thinkin' there's a little bit of brainwashing going on under the guise of community service. The guys are paying tuition to earn a degree and play football at UD and this is considered paying back to the community? What did the "community" do for them?

Last time I looked in the stands at Welcome Stadium, the fans were all students and parents of the players and not the surrounding community. Who is this "community" they speak of? Is it a person(s), place or thing?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fm8ik3-wSy0

You pay for a service (education) and its customary to pay the "community" back?

You pay to have your car serviced. Does that mean you send a periodic financial gift to the garage's mechanics to pay them back...in addition to what you already paid?

Can someone explain the logic of all of this, cuz I ain't a gettin' it. This sounds like attacking Iraq for something, someone did coming out of Afghanistan.

Bison - so-called Giving Back is PR speak. Do not take the words literally. Compulsary public service is now the norm for every organization is this country. But you already knew that, right?

It's not PR speak, it's taking advantage of the naive and stupid people at the stupid people's expense.

I'm in Donald Trump mode. A school would have to win my business as a student which would include a frank and detailed discussion of what is forthcoming, much like how I deal with a car salesman. I would operate out of a position of leverage.

I pay tuition. I expect to be treated fairly and with respect. I expect to be filled-in on all expectations before I register, and that includes the hidden fees (volunteer yard work issues).

These kids should be using the time to study and/or go back home and do yard work for mom and dad, instead. They should not be doing volunteer work in the name of their school until after they have graduated.

The 'SERVE' part in LEAD, LEARN, and SERVE needs to be done after graduation.

How come the very first interception in the highlight reel wasn't a safety on Dayton? He caught the ball on the 2 and then fell backwards of his own momentum into the endzone.

You been living under a rock? Athletes have been donating their time for many many many years. And yes there are team related community activites as well. They have also been going on for many many many years. They can be a very good learning exercise. Like visiting a childrens ward in the hospital for severely handicapped children. It can also be very humbling and teaches selflesness.
