I would argue that the Montana team should be Carroll College Fighting Saints.

The team has won 11 straight Frontier Conference Championships (2000–2011), ten national final appearances, including six straight (2000–2005, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2011), and six NAIA National Football Championships in ten years (2002–2005, 2007, 2010).

But, it looks like the "researchers" didn't even look at any NAIA schools.

Unless we're talking JUCO Stanford is the best team in Cali. Not USC..

South Carolina should be Clemson.

I'll buy Bloosmburg for PA. I'd have Carroll for Montana. The Griz are still damn good even though they've been a little down lately...

Before everyone starts complaining, it looks like this is how they decided who was the best:

Scores are based on the following criteria:
Winning Percentage (since 2010) x 10
Each Conference Championship (Since 2000): 0.5 points
National Championships (Since 1960): 1 point
MVP Awards (Heisman/Payton/Hill/Gagliardi): 1 point
AFCA Coach of the Year Awards: 1 point

Mount Union had the best overall score.

Wow. Some D3's made the list, considering that they don't really get national attention during the season. But some mistakes loom over it... xcoffeex

I noticed some mistakes as well. Can't imagine trying to compile all the records and other data into their scoring. But some of the mistakes were pretty easy to spot. Dale Lennon at NDSU? I don't think so.

Surprised they didn't have Northern Illinois as the choice for Illinois

Regardless of division? There is SOOOOO much wrong with this map.

Here's a small list of some stuff:
Arkansas- Razorbacks
California- Stanford
Georgia- UGA
Illinois- Northwestern
Iowa- Hawkeyes
Kansas- Kansas State
Kentucky- Wildcats
Michigan- Wolverines
Minnesota- Gophers
Mississippi- Ole Miss
Missouri- Mizzou
North Carolina- Tarheels
Ohio- Buckeyes (Like seriously? WTF?)
Oregon- Ducks
Pennsylvania- Penn State
South Carolina- Clemson (SERIOUSLY? WTF?)
Tennessee- Volunteers (Are you serious?)
Texas- TCU (Really?)
Utah- Utes
Virginia- Virginia Tech
Washington- Wazzou
Wisconsin- Badgers

We must be looking at this differently. It's not a best FBS team in each state or which team would most likely win a head-to-head. It's which team is the best at it's level. The Badgers aren't even in the same zip code success wise as Whitewater and Mt. Union is way ahead of The Ohio State.

I'm viewing as who would beat everyone else in the state.

Washington- Wazzou

What criteria would you use to put Wazzu over EWU or UDub?

So being that Wazzu beat both the Ducks and Beavers and Portland State beat Wazzu (as well as Western Oregon), by your logic Portland State should be the best team in Oregon?

I think it is supposed to be a pound for pound ranking, not just who would win a state wide tournament.

No. Honestly I picked Wazzou because I forgot about UDub (I tossed out this lost pretty hastily). It's not EWU though. EWU has never beat WSU or UW.

If you think PSU could take down the Ducks more power to you.

And I do think if you say "regardless of division" that, to me, means who is the best football team, not the best record or history. Because records are looked at with respect to division.

I think Ohio State would kick Mt. Union's teeth in. Therefore I picked OSU. So on and so on.

Only 15 states have the winningest team as it's most successful. Those states and schools are:
Alabama - Alabama
California - USC
Hawaii - Hawaii
Indiana - Notre Dame
Kansas - Pittsburg State
Louisiana - LSU
Maine - Maine
Massachusetts - Harvard
Montana - Montana
Nebraska - Nebraska
Nevada - Nevada
North Dakota - North Dakota State
Oklahoma - Oklahoma
Vermont - Middlebury
Wyoming - Wyoming

They didn't have their NAIA years listed under accomplishments either.

What do you mean?

If you're asking why I picked the teams I did it's because I think they are the best football teams in the state at the moment and could beat anyone else in their state head to head.

I don't see why people are complaining. There is a ton of different criteria you could use, but this is the criteria they chose. Seriously, Mt. Union in Ohio isn't probably even close. Which is why they are #1 overall. Their string of dominance is unparalleled at any level. Mt. Union has 12 NCs since 1990 and 7 Runner-ups in the same time span.
