Jacksonville State, ranked No. 1 for 11-straight weeks during the regular season, became the first OVC team to advance to the FCS National Champiosnhip game since 1982 when they won three playoff games before falling to North Dakota State in Frisco, Texas. JSU finished the year 13-2 overall.
