2015 AGS Bracket Challenge
Let's get the sign up rolling. You simply reply with "I'm in" and we'll make you a bracket. Try to limit the discussion in here because I need to comb it for those entering the contest.

Scoring
Official scoring process:
Each correct pick in a given round will be given the following points:
1st Round - 15
2nd Round - 15
Quarterfinals - 30
Semifinals - 50
Finals - 100

The scores will be used for deductions or bonuses from each total. If an exact score is guessed, there will be a ten point bonus added. There will be a tenth of a point deduction for each point a prediction for each separate team is off the actual score for that given team. This is not how many points your combined score was off the real combined score. For example, joe picked A over B 27-14. The final score was A winning 24-17. The combined scores were both 41, but joe was 3 off A's final score and 3 off B's final score. Therefore, .6 will be deducted from his points for that round. If B had won that game, joe simply would not have gotten points for that respective game.

First round scoring example:
A over B - 27-14
A beat B 24-17 15 points for the win minus .6 = 14.4
C over D - 31-10
C beat D 24-10 15 points for the win minus .7 = 14.3
E over F - 14-7
F beat E 17-14 no points awarded for loss
G over H - 24-21
G beat H 24-21 15 points for the win plus 10 for nailing the score = 25

14.4 + 14.3 + 0 + 25 = 53.7 for Round one.



I have multiple things going on right now, so don't expect to get your brackets within the minute after you sign up, but we'll get them out to you quickly.

Is there swag you ask? Yes, on top of a T shirt, and a "Playa" userbar like in the other thread there will also be a $100 gift card to the winner of this Bracket Challenge.



The deadline will be sometime late Friday evening or even possibly Saturday morning before the first game starts as I should be able to keep it open as late as possible.

This is the big official AGS challenge. Last season we had 130 participate and the year before we had 101. Let's try and beat those totals this season! xthumbsupx

There is a 25 post minimum to join the challenge. You can contact ursus for an exception and if he says good to go then you will be admitted.

Reminder:
When you get your bracket, you need to finish the WHOLE thing, not just the first round. Also, make sure to include the scores for each game.

This isn't going to be a discussion so don't quote me asking questions here, pm me or MTFantasitic if you need any clarifications.

I get real tired of people asking for me or MTFAn, or others to do work for them and then they don't give a **** about doing their part and filling out the bracket. Make sure you are not that kind of asshole because if you have done that in the past and you do it this time you won't be included again, you will be ignored. It was pretty good last year yet there were still probably 20 people that requested brackets, MTFan made them, and they left them sit. Don't be a jerk, do the work. Do it as soon as you get the bracket and call it good. If you have a link and it is sitting there now and you have not filled it in...go do it right now.

Hey, to answer some questions from those that have done this stuff before with AGS. You do not need to save anything. It is basically you entering information on a spreadsheet in our cloud so nothing to save as it does it with every keystroke.

Once you fill in the last bit of information just click the pointer to a different cell and you are done. You can just close it up. If you feel like it, click the link in your pm again and check yourself to see the info. is still there.

You don't have to worry about submitting your bracket. The links I sent you, I have the same access to them and they are already in my bracket challenge folder. Whenever you make a change, I have the ability to see it, so you don't have to send it anywhere.
Points wise, as long as you have the correct winner, you have the potential to gain the maximum points for that game.
Brackets close right before the opening kickoff of the first game.
Just as a reminder, you don't have to worry about submitting your bracket anywhere. I have all of your brackets and can see any changes you make. I understand that it's very weird to not have to save it or submit it or anything, but don't worry, I have your bracket.

Years ago, I used to just make a cell blue and put "Submit" in it on google docs for customers because they were not used to not having to save or submit a from. The button did absolutely nothing except put a mind at ease. It is weird at first.

Do you happen to know why I can't update my bracket you sent me from my iPad or iPhone? I have the Google sheets app on my iPad and my previous year brackets are their but not this years. I don't have access to a computer at the moment.

Also, anyone who is having trouble using Google Docs, you can always just type out all the teams you want to win and the scores for each game. Easy as:

and so on....
Just go from top to bottom for each round and I will enter your bracket for you. Don't let having trouble with google docs be an excuse for not filling out your bracket. There is always the option of sending me the scores.

It's just people uncomfortable with Google. Of course this is my fifth year doing the bracket challenge, and I'm always asking for more people to join, but yes, once again you're right, I regret this wholeheartedly. Although, I don't know why someone who has Dayton beating Fordham in the championship would be asking for the leaderboard to be posted so quickly....

Also, just so people know, I'm not stressed out or overworked by this. I'm just a lot busier this season and like I mentioned earlier, I was with family all weekend when in past seasons I usually had all day Sunday to transfer everyone's brackets over to my spreadsheet. I can tell you I am about 2/3 of the way done working my way through the alphabet. If your id starts with "G" then you are likely killing it. Also, fans of Lehigh are doing well. It's not like you can change your bracket based on the results of last weekend. What you get is what you get, the points are going to change if he gets it done tomorrow or if he doesn't post the results just before the NC game.

I'm not the least bit worried about how my bracket ends up. It was fun filling it out and fun making predictions. Try as we might, we aren't omniscient and none of us, unless we are darn lucky or had a Back to the Future moment and managed to get a hold of the January 10th edition of Dallas Morning News to get the final bracket results.

He'll get it when he gets it, so as my grandpa used to say to me, "Just sit the 'F' down, light up a smoke, crack open a beer and wait yer damn turn."

Ouch! Middle of the pack for me. First thanks as always for the work on this. I'm Not nearly as good as early rounds last year. Of course I picked SDSU over NDSU last year and it killed me in the end. I was almost alone in Picking ISUr to win or even get to the semis last year, so reflection of more earned respect for the birds and MVFC this year, even though we wish the brackets were different. Unfortunately, looks like less chance to pick up on others if the Redbirds continue to win. Looking forward to another Valley grind game Saturday and hopefully getting to see a new team in Hancock 2.0 the following Saturday from the East Coast. For my bracket's sake and the fun of again seeing and visiting NDSU fans, even if not in Frisco, hoping for that all MVFC semi.

* If you get the score exactly right, do you still get the 10 point bonus, even though you have the 'wrong' team putting up one side of that score?
* If you don't get the score exactly right, do you only calculate your deductions from the 'right' team's (the one you do have in the matchup) score or...
* Do you use both team's scores to determine your deduction even though the losing team is not the team you have in the matchup?

In any given round, you essentially only need the winner. The losing team is just there to make the bracket look nice. The contest could really just be you listing all the winners of each game and the score.
