Maybe, then again, Mercer just looked like a very good team. I don't think we were overlooking them that much. The were tougher than us and had more heart in critical situations. Obviously we had some unforced turnovers, but its not like we dominated them and just turned it over. They outplayed us, simple as that.

Well if you are correct, then I think maybe the critics who have been claiming Chatty was ranked too high may have been correct. Mercer IS good, but they aren't "beat a top 5 team" good.

I personally think Chatty is in fact a top 10 team which is why I think they (or at least Huesman) were overlooking Mercer and forward to next week.

We had a record crowd for the year today. I know we are going to have a huge road crowd make the trip next week. I think we need to step it up if we have any hope. We have been sloppy two weeks in a row with turnovers and penalties. Not going to cut it next week.

Awesome win (and much needed win for the program!) to save the season. I don't know if we had the heart to take another close loss. Very proud of the Bears today!

There is some bleed-off because of Chattown...I saw them in person at Presbyterian (weak showing vs. weak team) and have kept them out of top 5 all season.

A loss is never good but it does light a fire sometimes. NDSU has gone on a terror since the USD debacle.

Uhmmmmmm,.………….yeah. I think we have a parity in depth unlike any other conference right now. The overall play may be a bit below a bunch of top teams from other conferences, but overall we are fairly matched. But until we start winning against good opponents OOC and win some more playoff games, this parity will be viewed as overall weakness.

If Cobb was playing today, not sure we played well enough to cement a win today. Probably, but who knows. They are seriously better than they were. They are still learning how to win again, but they had a few, like Mercer, bounce the wrong way this year or they could be 5-4 pretty easy right now. But yeah they are probably to weak link right now, but barely.

I will have to say, it is more fun to win one of these close games than to lose one. I'm not sure that I could have taken another close loss.

Hold on there Milktruck. How many weeks have I read that Mercer is the 'lesser team' because "close doesn't count" & the score is what matters, etc., etc., etc? Can't have it both ways. The score says Mercer is a better team than Chattanooga by 3 points. Until 2016, Chattanooga is "the lesser team" to Mercer. That said, I hope the Mocs win the FCS National Championship & I will be pulling for them all the way! Mad respect for Coach Huesman & what he has done there. Also for Jacob Huesman & many, many others on the Mocs team. While I'm being completely honest though, I'll go ahead & drop this too: the UTC O-Line might be the most overrated position group in the history of FCS Football. There's not a single player on that O-Line that I would trade for ANY of Mercer's O-Line & that's with Mercer's 2014 All SoCon OG (their only All SoCon O-Line selection ever) out with an injury almost all of the SoCon season. I know most folks won't agree with that assessment & I know I'm being a bit of a prick (maybe more than "a bit") by saying this, but I don't care. I know what I see & I know O-Line play.

Not going to get into a pissing match with anyone. We got exposed. Our oline is overrated, no question. I don't know how it compares to Mercers, but Ill say Mercers played better in the big moments when they had to make yards. The dline has something to do with that as well.

This is a big win for Mercer. They need to follow it up now, but it will help them in recruiting where they are already very tough.

Also, congrats to the Citadel. Regardless of what happens next week, you have at least a share of the socon title. I think the citadel is in the playoffs. I think Chattanooga needs a win. No seed. We will be dangerous if we get in but its gonna have to be the hard way.

I think our secondary is a little suspect as well. Statistically they look pretty good but when we don't get pressure on the QB it turns out bad.

As for Mercer, Bobby Lamb has done a great job getting them competitive in such a short time. They may have only won one conference game but they have been right there with everyone. Still not sure how you guys lost to TTU.

Your QB Russ is a ballayer. He doesn't have great stats but he does a lot that doesn't show up on a stat sheet.

We better get it together if we are going to beat a really good Citadel team next week.

I've never seen anything that explains why Brandon Morgan isn't playing. Its a HUGE head scratcher why the went back to Levin at tackle and benched Morgan. That's when the team struggled last year. If he's hurt or sonething I get it but I have just seen him standing there in full uniform.
