Just to note that none of the players I removed from the top 20 this week are having a bad year but they aren't having as good of a year as those who I added. I believe in players getting a blank slate each year and they must perform to stay on a list. If any player removed starts to improve their play I will add them back.

Thanks for continuing to put together these lists, with your insight on the players! It is very appreciated.

Glad to do it. Hopefully there will not be too much movement over the next few weeks. I have tried to hit as many of the high risers early on and at least get them on the list of others to note.

Definitely missing a freshman - John Santiago of UND. Per team game notes:

"True freshman John Santiago (http://www.undsports.com/ViewArticle.dbml?KEY=ZMDNBNTVNLIHGRC.2015101400094 4&ATCLID=210111327&DB_OEM_ID=13500) ... shares the Big Sky-lead with four 100-yard rushing games this season and leads all FCS freshman with 597 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns."

"Santiago ranks third in the FCS with 993 all-purpose yards and leads the Big Sky with a 242.3 ypg average in league action. He also is averaging a Big Sky-best 139.3 ypg on the ground in league play."

Most of these players are on good teams but I have to think Darrell Bridges is starting to inch closer.

Most of these players are on good teams but I have to think Darrell Bridges is starting to inch closer.

He and Santiago both are probably going to be on next week as long as they have a good game.

Considered him but SIU needs to play a little better for me to put him on. May add him to the list of others but he certainly will not make the top 20 unless he and his team steps it up. Part of winning the national player of the year award for a QB is that his team needs to be good or he has to have better numbers than most of the field.

It's not all about stats though and I do feel all the QBs on the list are better than him right now. Wentz is the best QB in the country right now yet his stats aren't the very best because of the system and what they ask him to do.

If it's not about stats for a guy whose team plays one of the toughest SOS's in the country, then why don't you just pick names out of a hat with names of all 5-6 win teams in it??

I'd also like to see Western's Nikko Watson getting some attention. He's not currently on any of the lists on the NCAA.com website, because they only show players who have played in 75% of their games (he had to sit out the first 2 games for disciplinary reasons, so he won't get to 75% of the team's games until our game 8, his game 6).

So far, through three games (against Coastal Carolina, Southern Illinois, and South Dakota), here's his stats:
80 carries for 469 yards and 5 TDs which works out to
5.86 yards per carry, 156.3 yards per game, 1.67 TDs per game

Compare that to Illinois State's Marshaun Coprich so far this year:
5.14 yards per carry, 127.25 yards per game, 1.75 TDs per game

To be fair, Coprich does also have a few receptions on Watson this season, but I think, overall, the numbers aren't too far off. They're two very different backs, with Coprich being a smaller, quicker guy, and Watson being more of a rumbling boulder that often takes at least 2-3 guys to stop.

Here's a bit more about him with some highlights from a video that Midco Sports Network put together before last weekend's game: https://youtu.be/1t6yW0mg0Fo?t=15m27s

Not saying that stats have no bearing but you can't just pick a guy because he is top 10 in a couple of national stats. The true test to how good your QB is will be what opponents say about him. Everyone is impressed with Wentz. He is the real deal. Others in the MVFC think your guy is solid but you don't hear people raving about him. He is a really good college player who could play his way on the list but you need to tell me who to drop who has a better skill set.

Remember, when a man goes up a man must come down. It's easy to say who should be on there but much harder at this point to say who should be taken off. I have tried to make sure anyone not playing fairly well is taken off.

He is the real deal. He may not be a draft pick but he is one of the best in the entire country. I have him in my top 4 RBs in FCS based on this year alone so far.

Understood, thanks. Next few games should really show if he's the "real deal" or just good against questionable competiton. Lots of ranked teams from here on out.

Please don't take this as me being an Ass...Just a fact. The QB position is the Field General....The most important stat is the W-L stat. 4-1 vs 2-3.....that is why the guy with inferior numbers is ahead in this ranking.
