What a wild last week for the FCS. However, we were 0-fer in the FBS category last week.

Two games today.

7:30 PM EDT:
ETSU at Charleston Southern (is Thursday a terrible day for ETSU football?)
Florida A&M at South Carolina State

Bumping this up for tonight's games.

South Carolina State up 10-0 with four minutes left in the first period at home against Florida A&M at Dawson Stadium in Orangeburg, S.C. The game is on ESPNU.

10:19 left in the first half, SC State adds a field goal after missing one earlier, 13-0 over FAMU. MEAC officiating has been horrendous, or the Bulldogs could have had a couple of more scores.

Meanwhile, Charleston Southern has opened up a 40-0 halftime lead over the young ETSU Buccaneers.

Will etsu win a game this year?

Given their poor defense and high SOS, they'll be lucky to steal even one or two wins this year.

Mr. C
September 17th, 2015, 08:11 PM
South Carolina State 16, Florida A&M 0 at the end of the first half. The only negative for the Bulldogs is the inability to finish drives with touchdowns.

SCSU responded to the non-calls with a slightly stronger second half.

Bulldogs shut out Florida A&M 36-0.

Hmmm....knowing the Coastal Carolina put a major beatdown on SCSU last week (41-0 before the Beach Chickens throttled down), I'm wondering if this tells us anything about Samford that we weren't seeing, particularly about their Defense...

I tuned the game up for but quickly lost interest, all I kept seeing was close ups of the refs, standing around staring at each other, when you see more of that than actual football, we have a problem. I just dont have time to invest 15 minutes to see 4 plays..

So I've been watching every FCS game that airs in my area. I set them to record and eventually get around to watching them. I'm currently watching the Northern Arizona game from last week. Cool uniforms if any NAU lumberjacks fans see this.

Anyways, I never realized just how much more than any other FCS conference that the HBCU leagues, MEAC and SWAC, are televised by ESPN networks. I think I've seen 4 games just through the first three weeks. I also watched some last season.
There is a trend in these games that I'm seeing in more than other FCS games. There are constant special teams mistakes, missed PATS, blocked PATS, failed 2-pt conversions and probably too many 2-pt conversions attempted to begin with IMO.
I know FCS has its greater likelihood of mistakes and I've seen some bad special teams moments even in the CAA, but I don't think i've watched a single MEAC or SWAC game without at least one missed PAT. I'm not even exaggerating.

Maybe, maybe not...I guess we'll know more after Saturday...

I was shocked at how bad our offense played last night, but it was the first time that we've only used one quarterback for an entire game.

We have JUCO transfer QB who has honestly outplayed Carson Royal on the field this season...last week against Samford, moving the ball was fairly easy, but we turned it over 5 times. SCSU's defense might actually be better than Samford's.

That's what I though. Good for Lehigh, they will continue to get better as the year goes on.

I just don't want to hear from some posters that Harvard is deserving of a ranking for sweeping through the Ivy, when its schedule is littered with bad teams like Penn, Columbia, Cornell, etc. The Ivy is a shell of its former self from even just 10 years ago.

ISUr, at the risk of sounding like a hater, has not looked like a top 10 team all season. I'll admit to keeping them "artificially high" in my rankings because I expect them to get better, but they looked BAD against Iowa and stomping Morgan State doesn't impress me.
Our offense has been good thus far just pass coverage has been shaky. Lots of short routes for conversions for the Panthers. Gunna be a shootout

34-27 CCU wins. Either a great showing by the Necks or CCU is very overrated.

I mean preseason. I expected both of these teams to contend for a title.

I agree. Last year was the year for UNH. I think it would have been pretty difficult not to take a considerable step back. The playoff streak was going to end eventually....

Thats the final score! Great moral boosting win. We went 3-5 and 4-4 in CAA in first two years. This team can go 6-2 in this third year. Go Seawolves!!!

Next two games are huge.. away games at W&M and JMU.

The amazing this is that UNH has such a crap schedule that they'll likely hang around for awhile. They miss 'Nova, JMU and Towson. They have to be significant favorites against URI, Elon and CCSU, and probably coinflips against UD and Richmond based upon what I've seen. The best teams they have are probably Maine and W&M. This is not a playoff team at 7-4, or a team that will do any damage in the playoffs, but it wouldn't surprise me if they lingered in the conversation for awhile.

Geez what a win tonight. Im so pumped that i been looking for somewhere to let it all the excitement out and then i remembered i signed up on AGS a year+ ago. Huge win for my Seawolves. Finally got over the hump against UNH.

My expectantions coming to this game was a potential blowout by UNH. Turned out to be us with the big win. I think its the early season statement win that we needed since we joined the CAA

Im sleeping well tonight. GO SEAWOLVES

Lamar 49
Sam 46

Kinda unimpressed with the lack of flags on the last Lamar drive when the Sammy player punched the Lamar player then on the next and final play the the Sam player pushed the Lamar player down after the whistle had already blown. Looked classless. I wonder if the conference will review those plays. Probably not but they weren't necessary from the conference champions.

104th meeting was one for the ages. Even if EIU is bad, or we aren't good. Both teams would have played it like it was for all the marbles.

The fact that they honored Bob Spoo and Mike Shanahan tonight, EIU didn't need any additional incentive to play their butts off tonight.

Sometimes it's good to be lucky. Thanks EIU kicker.

I know the bolded part will make you feel better if you say it enough, but it's 100000000000% false.

Nice to see ISU get the W though. That would have been a devastating loss for the conference come playoff time.

It appears that the Trees won 29-28 as SEMO scores a TD as time expired. The best I can guess from reading on ESPN is that their XP conversion failed.

As we scored our #1 receiver spiked the ball for his 2nd unsportsmanlike conduct penalty to get ejected. Which also gives the opportunity to kickoff from our own 20 into a stiff wind. They drove no problem and scored from the 26 on the last play in regulation. They missed the 2pt for the win.

We lost Connor Underwood, probably our best defensive player real early in the 3rd qtr. I think that may have led to much of their offense. He should be back in 2 weeks (this is a bye week)

TheBoyWhoSeaWolf
September 19th, 2015, 11:50 PM
Stony Brook's 31-6 win over UNH was not even that close as the Seawolves just ran off clock much of the 2nd half. Tough spot for UNH backup QBs playing against a Seawolves D that's not going to let them run the ball. It was nice watching the game on SNY but why no game clock? They have to fix that.
