this is all i can find so far on JMU...still looking.....

JMU will start the 2007 season at North Carolina Sept. 1 and will host Virginia Military Sept. 15 and Coastal Carolina Sept. 22 in addition to playing eight conference games. The current Atlantic 10 members will begin competing in the Colonial Athletic Association during the 2007 campaign.

Appalachian State University's home Opener is '07 is LSU. That's all that's scheduled so far. Here's a look at future Appalachian games from GoASU.com

With the addition of the 2007 season opener at LSU, Appalachian now has five future games scheduled versus BCS-level opponents, including NC State (2006), Georgia (2009), Florida (2010) and Virginia Tech (2011).

So Appalachian is playing their "home" opener on the road next year? Just because LSU wears the white when in Death Valley doesn't mean they are the road team, or is this Appy St's way of trying to max out their home attendance by calling road games "home" games? ;)

Yep I'm pretty sure he messed that one up. It would be pretty nuts in Boone if LSU were to come up to the Rock!

I heard somewhere that LSU has backed out of ASU's 2007 game. Can't confirm or remember where I read it. So, don't count on the LSU game happening. If we win the NC again this year, it may be REALLY hard to get any one to play us. Are they all skeered?

I'm guessing talks broke off, Towson is playing Maryland in 2011. I doubt Maryland will play 2 I-AA schools since only one counts.

All I can find is Towsons future I-A opponents.
2008 - Navy
2009 - Northwestern
2010 - Indiana
2011 - Maryland

I'm sure they'll continue to schedule Morgan State as an OOC game, they're only 4 miles away and we pack the house for the local rivalry.

Try scheduling a full season with only 4 conference games and see how well you do. Factor in NDSU's high quality and the apparent reluctance of many schools to schedule home-and-homes and you really have your work cut out for you.

It's been done before - UD was an independent (i.e. no conference games), and a high quality one at that, for the longest time and we still found games. It was before message boards but I never remember that kind of scramble to fill the schedule.

That's because it was before the message boards. :) It's also tougher to schedule out west, IMO. Fewer teams to pick from and you have to be very willing to travel.

It's obviously been done before, but that doesn't make it any easier for NDSU and the other transitional schools.

I think we are looking for 2 home games... One good thing is that I have faith in our coaching staffs connections with other schools, we seem to always find the games we need. I am guessing they are already in the works..

We are looking at possible away losses at PSU, SJSU and NDSU. I think we can take EWU, Northeastern, Cal Poly and SDSU at home although it is likely we could lose one of those, too. Already at 4 losses then so I hope someone schedules a few teams for the remaining spots that are not in the top 25. You need to win 7 and preferably 8 games regardless of strength of schedule.

I agree. We were pretty much all Independents for many years and could always find some interesting matchups. Also, because very few programs made any money anyway, and there were only a few bowls, AD's were much more willing to mix in new opponents. I think the relationships between AD's played a much bigger role as well ("I'll play at your place if you come to mine next year" as opposed to "who the Hell is that school?")

No NEC team for the first time in a while.

I have no way of knowing for sure, but I think Lehigh's schedule not having any NEC teams this year is not a coincidence. The resurgence of the NEC certainly was seen by some of the folks in Lehigh at the time the schedules were being formulated.

I don't understand why some folks have a problem with VMI on the schedule? VMI is a pretty good fit for schools in the Patriot League and is a good game for us, especially at home. Would you rather have VMI or Albany? :p

I don't think putting another A-10 team on the schedule really is of benefit to us either. One A-10/I-A game a year is enough for me, IMO, especially with the Ivies compromising their AI floors to bring in better athletes. :twocents: That Princeton game that looked like a cakewalk five years ago sure looks different now, eh?

If I had my way, I'd try to play someone we've never played before in an effort to draw in more interest in 2008/9 and beyond. Why not a Delaware State, Howard, or Morgan State?

Not to get snippy or anything (YSU posters frequently deserve every kick in the a _ s that they get), but out of 10 football recruits who have a choice, just how many do you really believe are going to choose Youngstown State over, let's say, Harvard?!! Point being that these schools are using that "other name on the diploma" (besides your own) as a recruiting tool and it works. These are very good teams and can compete with anyone in CS. The fact that they choose not to is another topic altogether.

I would rather lehigh play Albany than VMI. Its all about strenght of schedule. If you win all your games v. bad teams, no one cares. Lehigh needs to prove themselves again by playing better schools. Another A-10 game would be great, win or loss. If Lehigh goes 10-1 next year and dont win the PL, they will not get an at-large by playing teams like VMI.

I hope that the Griz do go on the road 'as previously scheduled' and play SDSU. I hate it when an agreement is made & then is bought out (that's like breaking one's word). Of course, when it comes to doing so in order to play PAC-10 Oregon or Iowa one must take into consideration the greater competition but certainly not cancelling with a fellow I-AA (FCS) & then scheduling a Div. I would love to see Yale add an 11th game and schedule a game every other year against various New England teams that we have either never played, or haven't played in decades. In the in between years I would like to see that game used for a longer road trip like Yale did in the last 15 years when they went to Chicago, Florida, San Diego, and Dayton.

I thought I had posted this already, but here goes.

09/01: at Stony Brook
09/08: LAFAYETTE
09/15: YALE
09/22: at Holy Cross
09/29: CORNELL
10/06: at Pennsylvania
10/13: FORDHAM
10/20: at Bucknell
10/27: at Lehigh
11/03: DAVIDSON
11/10: COLGATE

Some PL skeptics out there are probably penciling in 1-10/0-6, but a year under the new Navy system and returnees at the skill positions will pay results. The Hoyas didn't have any depth last season and it showed, but those 26 fumbles will not return in 2007.

Yes, essentially trading in Brown and Columbia on the 2006 schedule for Penn and Yale is a challenge, but it's worth the fight.

portland state seems to have a pretty good OOC next year. instead of all those 1-A they have Davis and Mcneese. Good job Vikings!

The key word is tentative. Last year, all three FBS games were scheduled way after Jan 1.

The good news is that the McNeese game is on. I doubt that the Cowboys would let us out of that game without a fight. That would have to be McNeese's call in opting out. Davis the same thing. With all the "rumors" of the Big Sky reneging on OOC commitments to the Great West, and returning back to the game with our former DII rivals, it would not be in our best interests to opt out. Also, 2006 showed us that, even achieving the seven wins with the toughest I-AA schedule, that does not assure one of a spot in the playoffs.

The one remaining open game is a tossup. Word has it that Oregon State might have trouble keeping some OOC opponents from backing out, due to its success in the Sun Bowl, in which case they may look to us. Other possibilities include Nevada and Colorado State, both of which might involve some "juggling" to work out. The final schedule may include some surprises.

Earlier this fall all the talk was about how Montana was going to buy out another home contest with a GWFC team, but lately the talk on the street is that the Griz may yet come to Brookings. Time will tell.

II team!!! Jeez.

My dad said he read that Iowa paid Montana $650,000.oo for that game last year!

Wow!

That's a lot of money for a 1-aa program to cash in

I hate playing the same OOC team 6 years in a row. Let's mix it up a little. Of course, an 11th game would help mix it up (yeah, right).

Same here. UConn was the only OOC opponent that I enjoyed seeing Yale play every single year. Sadly, those days are long gone.

We called, offered to come to the Bowl in like a 3 for 1, y'all said no.

Then again Harvard refused a 4 for 0 from us, so I guess our pedigree isn't good enough for the Ivies.

Yale's schedule is set through 2012 so perhaps that's why Yale turned NU down....at least I hope that's the reason. I'd love to see us play teams like Northeastern or URI in the future. Yale hasn't played an A-10 team since we stopped playing UConn in '97.

All of that may be true, but what makes playing NU attractive is its in Boston and Yale has a lot of alumni in the Boston area. Even though Yale plays at Harvard every other year, playing at NU in the years that Harvard is at The Bowl will give the Yale alumns in Boston the opportunity to see Elis play in The Hub in consecutive years.
