OK, you've all seen multiple pics of the stadium. But this one is by far the best ever taken. It's a shot from above the stadium during the Griz/Cat game. Attendance was 24,077 and there was a Maroon-Out that game.

Just posting a pic link. Not looking for praise. If you don't like the Griz or our stadium don't look at the pic and don't leave a comment. The main reason it was an interesting pic is that it's the all time attendance record for Montana and the Maroon-Out was great.

If we make the semis we'll go over 200,000 fans again. We're at 161,066 after 7 games. Two more games would easily get us over 200,000. We won't beat the record 221,183 we did in 2004 for 10 home games.

If you have a problem with this info I think you might be jealous. No praise or nice comments are needed. We really don't need them. Save them for the schools that don't draw well normally and then get a big crowd for some reason. They are the ones that need them, we don't need your stroking.:smiley_wi

I don't normally defend ronbo unless there is good reason but I can't bite my tongue on this one. Like it or not there are only 8 teams remaining in this subdivision playoff right now and by golly it is time that Montana is allowed to showcase itself.:hurray:

If you are not a Montana fan at least appreciate the Griz for what their program brings to I-AA/CS. This is an awesome picture that all in our division can take pride in.:hurray:

Thanks guys, but like I said we really don't need a lot of praise. I just posted the pic becuse I thought it was fun seeing all that Maroon from the sky. One thing I will point out is that I have always noticed that whenever a fan posts a stadium upgrade or plans to build 5 or 6 Griz fans will post praise on the first couple pages. The Griz Nation would like to see all the schools have great stadiums and big attendance. It's good for all of us.

Having just been there days ago, I really like Washington-Griz Stadium.

When some of us went over with the team for their walkthrough practice Friday, the first thing I thought it was smaller than I envisioned for a stadium with a capacity of 23,000. That is probably because there are a lot of endzone seats and not as many sideline seats as I'm accustomed to seeing in Cowboy Stadium.

What I really liked about it is that the stands are almost on top of the field. I thought the fans at Cowboy Stadium were right on top of the action, but the Griz fans are even closer. I absolutely hate stadiums with tracks around the football field. The fans are just too far away.

And it is definitely loud with the closed endzones. It is a very nice stadium.

Why do we sit here and talk about how our division has the superior championship format, that our top teams don't get enough respect, that we feel the top of the CS could compete with most of the BS...on and on and on...and yet when people set the measuring stick some of the same people who make these arguments say this CS team can't compete with the big boys?

Everbody has their own opinions, but all of these coaches and players who have played here speak highly of it. Some even say it is the loudest in the country. All the people calling coach Kill at SIU this week. I trust their opinion, because they have been there.

Agreed in this case. The experiences are very different. I brought a VT fan to a Delaware game in 2003 and he was blown away by how good it was. He commented on how great it was not waiting in huge backups and lines while still having a great atmosphere.

However, IMO you need a certain threshold to make enough noise and enough atmosphere. I don't know where that exact number lay, but 27,000 is certainly enough to have plenty of both.

Washington-Grizzly Stadium is the best in all of the Championship Subdivision but not even in the top 10-15 of all NCAA-IA Stadiums as far as game day atmosphere and noise level. It truly is a great place to watch a game and their fans should be proud of their stadium but to post a new thread as well as yet another link is too much. So which gameday did you experience OSU or Michigan? What year & game? What are your reasons that Montana's is better?

Not to be a smart*ss but when was the last time you witnessed Wa/Griz in person? Was it in '99 when YSU came to Missoula? If so, Wa/Griz has changed tremendously since then eg: Jumbotron, Sprinturf, 4500 more seats, just a better show in general. That said, I am sure the Ice Castle puts on a great show also.

Wa-Griz is a great stadium and a great experience, and sets the bar for I-AA. All teams should strive to have the same energy that can be found at WA-Griz (although I will mention that after upgrades to KBS and some more seats we will rival them). That being said, If UM players spent half the energy playing UM fans do hyping up the stadium, I don't know if anyone else would have a National Championship to date...

IMO...The only way Kidd Brewer will ever rival Wa-Griz is to level the place and start from scratch.

From Egriz:
"200: The Griz have exactly 200 wins in the past 21 seasons, a stretch of 21 winning seasons in a row.

Everybody knows wagriz is a nice stadium, especially for our level. You have every right to be proud of it but frankly most of us don't care very much. But we do care very deeply about our own teams. I was there 2 weeks ago and it is impressive but I wasn't exactly awed by it, but then I've been to much bigger and yes even louder venues. It's nice and all and yes most, if not all of us, would trade our stadiums for it but thats about it. Since not many institutions in our division can compete with the quality of wagriz - it does make you look arrogant and self grandizing (sp?) when you post, asking not for praise or nice comments. I know thats not your intent but thats the way it comes out. So don't get your panties in a wad - it's a free country and I'll post what I want:waawaa: ........

awww....sweet song. what are you - 12 years old??...There seems to be a lot of that among those that post smack on the discussion board. I attribute it to the team boards being so lax that they think the national board should let that crap go on here too. If they can't hang among the national folks they should just keep posting in their own provincial circle and leave the national stuff to people who can see beyond their own backyard.

While it is not the normal high school game or venue, last weekend in the regional finals the Southlake Carroll (a perennial top 5 team in the nation and a defending state champion) played Euless Trinity another defending state champion (they have more than one state champion based on size of the schools within the division) at Texas Stadium. The attendance for the game was 46,399, despite the fact that the game was on a Thanksgiving weekend and opposite the nationally televised Texas - Texas A&M game.

now i have nothing against you, Montana, Wash/Griz stadium, Monte, etc...but i do have a problem with this random post.

your stadium is wonderful - we ALL know that...we hear about it all the time. we wonder why you didn't just post this picture on the thread with all the OTHER pictures of all the OTHER stadiums in the FCS. so we ask you about that and you get pissed off saying "if we don't want to see the picture don't click on it". fine...we won't jump on your back. we'll be nice and say that the picture is great and that your stadium is amazing and we'll drool over it and wonder when we'll get a stadium like that blah blah blah. and then you get pissed off again because you say you don't need anyone to stroke your back, or ego, or whatever.

get a grip. you've got a nice stadium. now stop bragging about it. we've all seen the pictures and if we want to see more, then we'll google them or something. take your grizzly ego down a notch and talk about football and get over your stadium already.

if the money spent on the stadium was from private donations directed specifically at building a multipurpose athletics facility - then there's nothing they can do about it. it IS sad that money isn't being spent on academics - but when people give private money to something - you have to use it where they designate it to be used.

Given the proximity of the seating, the best place to watch a I CS game is Delaware Stadium. The fans are on top of the field.

Symetrical seating on east and west stands where the endzone is for students and the band is the south and a few crazies in the north stands.
All other seats are on each side of the field. Not the end zones. Capacity is 22k which we surpassed 3 times this season.

Montana has a great stadium. It's just not the same as Delaware Stadium.

Also the Ice Castle is right there as well.
