I’m not aware of many of the FCS undrafted rookie contracted players invited to training camps, so if you want to check on the players you know, the link is:
http://espn.go.com/blog/nflnation/post/_/id/171895/projecting-the-53-man-nfl-rosters
UNH had thee undrafted signees , WR R.J. Harris (Saints) and TE Harold Spears (Packers) are not currently projected to make the 53 man roster; however, C Mike Coccia is projected to make the Eagles roster.

Hard to say how accurate these projection will be, with trades and injuries, training camps and pre-season games changes are going to happen.

If Sterling does not make the 53 he should certainly be on a practice squad. Same for Jake Rodgers and Deon Simon. It would surprise me if Morris made it.

As big fan of Dezmin Lewis as I am.......and I hope I am wrong.....The Bills are already deep at wide receiver. Which makes me wonder why that team drafted him...but IF he makes the 53 man roster he might be trade bait with value. Worst case scenario he ends up on practice squad for a year. Bills totally confused me with picking him though.

Former NDSU RB John Crockett also signed as a UDFA with the Packers and has a good chance to make their 53 man roster as the 3rd string RB. I've read that it's likely he beats out James Starks for that spot since the Packers don't think that Crockett would clear waivers if they tried to stash him on the practice squad.

Starks is still #2. It would likely be 2nd year guy Rajion Neal out of Tennessee he would have to beat.

Ah, I see. I thought they still had Jonathan Martin or whoever that big RB was that they used to have but wouldn't be surprised if I'm wrong. I try to pay as little attention to the Packers as possible. I wasn't thrilled when Crockett signed there...

Starks is a good sized back, could be him. Like PC, I try not to pay too much attention to the Packers, living there for 2 years was plenty.

Nah, I was thinking of another guy. Pretty sure his last name was Martin but not completely sure what his first name was. Yeah, Kuhn is one of those guys who'll probably be a Packers lifer and he's a fantasy football TD vulture so that's two strikes already against him in my book.

Not surprised that both Crockett and Zenner are projected to not make the cut. They will have to make big splashes in training camp to make the roster, which I think both are capable of doing. I think Zenner has a good chance of beating out Winn for the 4th RB spot in the Lions backfield, and I don't know enough about Ripkowski in the Packers backfield, but I don't think Crockett beats out Starks. If they do get cut, it will be interesting to see if and how quickly they get snagged.

I haven't seen anything about Crockett not making the cut or him competing with Starks, who is 2. He's been projected by many to be the 3 because if not, he will get signed of the practice squad roster by one of the other 20 teams that expressed a post draft interest in him.

I'll add Coastal Carolina's undrafted players:

Denzel Rice Coastal Carolina CB Eagles No
Chad Hamilton Coastal Carolina OL Bears No

Denzel Rice did get singled out in a press conference as someone that impressed, but didn't make it on ESPN's list. Two others got a camp invite but aren't on the roster. I assume that means they are done, so I didn't list them above.

McFadden? Really? Don't worry he will be off the roster soon enough. Injury prone and just can't cut it at the pro level. Only reason he is there is because of the Dallas Cowboys/Arkansas connection. Even the pig fans in this state are laughing.

Since entering the league McFadden has suffered 15 known injuries causing him to miss 29 games over six seasons. McFadden's roster spot is far from safe since he only signed a 2 year / $3 million contract last March. It wouldn't surprise anybody if McFadden is cut and replaced for RB Chris Johnson. McFadden was dealing with a hamstring injury during June OTA's and was suppose to battle Joesph Randle for the starting RB spot, but he can't do that from the training room.

Gus Johnson (http://www.dallascowboys.com/team/players/roster/gus-johnson) is catching my eye more than Lache Seastrunk (http://www.dallascowboys.com/team/players/roster/lache-seastrunk) at this point. There are one or two snaps a practice where I am no longer looking down at my roster and wondering who that running back is. Johnson is looking more complete in the snaps he has received -- whether that's carrying the ball, receiving out of the backfield or understanding where he needs to be in the blitz pickup. Johnson has not looked out of place at all.

I still think Gus is going to be a practice squad player. I don't see him starting for Dallas but I would love to see him make it. He isn't very fast but he finds the holes and is a durable back.

I am only saying this because I'm friends with a lot of NFL scouts and many of them call me a scout, although I decline to accept that until I were to work for a NFL or CFL team. I do get a laugh at the people in the media who work on TV and claim to be a scout. Scouts are not on TV. Scouts get paid money to attend schools and evaluate players for professional football teams. The lack of respect from the media for the term scout is just offensive to me. This guy is a media person and TV analyst, not a scout. I'm not mad at you or blaming you. I just see someone claim to be a scout like that and it bothers me because I would bet 100k that he would not last 3 months in the life of a NFL scout during the fall.

Cowboys (http://fantasynews.cbssports.com/fantasyfootball/teams/page/DAL/dallas-cowboys) running back Gus Johnson (http://fantasynews.cbssports.com/fantasyfootball/players/playerpage/2009218/gus-johnson) had to leave Thursday's preseason game early after sustaining an AC joint separation in his shoulder (https://twitter.com/nickeatman/status/632057458769313792), reports the team's official website.

Tough break for Gus.

I watched him make those up the middle runs. Kinda confusing since he could bounce it outside so easily and gained 5+ yards a carry. But that's Cowboy football for you. When they had the ball on the 6 (?) yard line and he was lined up in the backfield I told my son watch this, Gus is going to run it straight in the endzone. Touchdown Gus! He kept moving his legs. That's what killed many SLC teams when they played him. Hope he recovers quickly. The twittesphere is already saying he's going to get cut because of it.

On a Bear note, former T.E. Chase Dixon had a good night for the Redskins. One reception went for 17 yards if I remember correctly.

Tonight we get to see WR Dezmin Lewis hit the field for the Buffalo Bills.

Good news...Dallas News is reporting that he is OK and will be fine to go. Gus said nothing serious and will be ready to go.

Interesting. Spin since they are in RB depth trouble? Good news if not. I know a Cowboy employee. I'll ask him to get the dirt for you. But I hope its true. He was just a few steps away from breaking one for massive yards last night.

"We didn't have an opportunity to see third-round pick RB David Johnson, but his collegiate teammate NT Xavier Williams shined. The undrafted rookie out of Northern Iowa impressed in the trenches with two run stops and a pressure to help lead him to the Cardinals highest grade of the game."

Clenz do you know why he didn't get drafted? Still surprising to me as he looked like a stud last year, good to see that he played well tho!

If I had to guess it was a height thing. If he was 6'4 he'd have been drafted. At 6'2 he wasn't.

That old saying of you can't coach size is used a lot more than not when looking at late round picks and 2 guys of similar talent. The more prototype size will almost always get the nod

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CNLwA6AUcAAoIkX.jpgA year shy of its 10th birthday, University of Phoenix Stadium has accommodated a variety of events -- football, of course; soccer, basketball, conventions, trade shows, etc.

But Saturday night is believed to be the first time someone staged a dance competition there.

At least that’s how Cardinals coach Bruce Arians viewed running back David Johnson’s first few rushing attempts against the Chargers.

After Johnson’s initial series, coaches reminded him that the goal lines were at the north and south ends of the stadium, not east and west.

“We had a nice talk about dancing,” Arians said. “He can go out on 'Dancing With the Stars' if he wants to dance. I thought he ran really, really well after that.”

Johnson gained 66 yards on 13 carries, a 5.1-yard average, all in the first half. But his first three carries went for 2 and 3 yards after Johnson didn’t read blocks and tried to bounce outside.

That’s not uncommon for rookie running backs, Arians said.

“That’s what they do in college,” he said. “They can usually outrun corners and linebackers. That’s not going to happen here.”

To his credit, Johnson adjusted quickly. When he needed to, he planted a foot and moved upfield. At 6-feet-1 and 224 pounds, Johnson creates considerable momentum, and he displayed a strong stiff-arm in the 22-19 loss to the Chargers.

“I think it took him until his third run to just kind of get that rookie rust off,” quarterback Carson Palmer said. “He had a couple runs early that I got on him about.

“And then, the lights went on and he figured, ‘All right, it’s time.’ And he stuck his nose up there and showed some explosion, a stiff-arm a couple different plays, the athleticism we’ve been waiting to see.”

Johnson returned to practice last week after suffering a hamstring injury early in training camp. It was his first time in full pads since the Senior Bowl in January.

His performance on Saturday alleviated some of the concerns the Cardinals had at running back.

Johnson, Andre Ellington and Marion Grice missed significant time in camp with hamstring injuries, which prompted the team to sign veteran Chris Johnson last week.

On the last play of practice on Thursday, Chris Johnson pulled a hamstring and is expected to miss a week or two.

At least for now, it’s David Johnson who is backing up Ellington, which is what the Cardinals envisioned when they drafted Johnson in the third round.

“Each carry definitely helped me,” Johnson said. “I think I was just a little bit excited at the beginning of the game, a little nervous. (Coach) said just hit the hole, go north and south. He kept it straight-forward.

“I try not to get my head too big, because that’s when it starts going wrong.”

Don't know if we count Taylor Heinicke as he graduated from FBS but started FCS. He put on a nice showing tonight:

27/41
279 Passing Yds
2 TDs
0 INTs

He had great composure and I thought he was going to lead a great 4th Q comeback. Not a Vikings fan (even if I live in Fargo) but was impressed. Don't worry, I'm not a fan of any NFC North teams or the Broncos

Gus got released in the final cut.

The Dallas Cowboys released undrafted rookie running back Gus Johnson on Friday afternoon as the club works to get to the 53-man roster limit by the 3 p.m. Saturday deadline, according to a source.
Johnson started the first and fourth preseason game for the Cowboys. He had a nice 21-yard touchdown run down the sideline in the Cowboys’ preseason finale Thursday night against Houston at AT&T Stadium.
Johnson, undrafted out of Stephen F. Austin, led the Cowboys in rushing in the preseason with 37 carries for 139 yards and two touchdowns.
The Cowboys would like to re-sign him to their practice squad Sunday if he clears waivers with no other team signing him to their final roster.

Win win for Johnson as the Cowboys want him back on their practice squad or he could get picked up by another team. Either way he gets paid nicely.

GREEN BAY, Wis. — Davis Tull is still finding his way at the NFL level. The Saints’ new outside linebacker, a fifth-round pick from Chattanooga, has only been able to learn on the field for the past couple of weeks, a product of surgery to repair a torn labrum back in college.
But Tull was able to flash a few of the skills that made him a coveted small-school prospect in the draft on Thursday night against Green Bay, particularly on the pass rush. On one play, Tull blew past the Packers right tackle and came away with a sack.
