The schedule was changed due to the anticipation of close to 2 million visitors estimated in Philly for the Pope. Delaware was the only team scheduled to play at Villanova that could accommodate the date change. The had a bye originally. The 19th coordinated with the school's parents weekend.

Penn game was also moved to Thursday night, September 24th to not interfere with any Pope festivities in the surrounding metro Philadelphia area.

Game will return to end of season clash in 2016.

I think this has been discussed multiple times on here.....

Nova parents weekend is always the 3rd weekend in November. CAA lets you select the date of 1 home matchup per year, then makes the rest of the league's schedule around that. Delaware was the only CAA team without a OOC game that weekend. It was that or add a 12th game and give up the 2nd bye week.

It was really more a scheduling logistical issue than a pope issue.....

Thanks - I found it hard to believe it hadn't been discussed before, it had.

Kinda shows how little both schools feel about their rivalry that they're willing to yank it around like this. I wonder if the phrase, "You can't possibly move our big Rivalry football game!" was ever uttered by either AD. It sure doesn't seem like it.

The series only began playing in November on a regular basis in 1999. Prior to this year it was as common to see these 2 play in September or October as it was in November.

One administration disliked football so much they were willing to kill it off for a few years and the other has their home games in the series played in Chester. Not exactly high up the list for either side.

This honestly could be the best thing that happens to the game for Nova. In my 4 years (I just graduated this year) they did a really good job promoting the game and trying to drum up support and attendance. Both games were at PPL in like 30 degree weather though. Now we're playing on campus, on parents weekend (aka we will actually sell out), against our rival. Especially if we knock off UConn there will actually be pretty good support from the student body doing into the game.

I'm glad the series has become so one-sided you are willing to describe us twice

The first part described the current state of UD football.

I figured, it was just funny to see two things that are usually shots at Nova (the fact that we actually gave up on football and had to completely start over from scratch and our stadium issues)
