#49 Nick DeLuca had a breakout season for the Herd last year. The rising junior from Omaha, NE jumped into the linebacker rotation mid-season, filling in for Carlton Littlejohn and Travis Beck due to injuries, and never looked back.
DeLuca finished the year with 42 tackles and three interceptions, including a pick in the NCAA semifinals against Sam Houston State. We can't wait to see Nick and the rest of the Bison in action against Montana on Saturday, August 29 on ESPN.

http://www.wday.com/sports/football/3750945-countdown-ndsus-2015-kickoff
49.*The future is now for Nick DeLuca. The junior to be is now the guy at middle linebacker after seeing time as a backup the last two seasons. DeLuca rose to the forefront during the FCS playoffs, after the injury to Travis Beck, as DeLuca had to start, and he was tremendous. His athleticism was constantly on display, just think of his three interceptions last season, specifically against Youngstown and Sam Houston, where he showed some great hands and tremendous speed. He's now the most experienced guy at a spot where NDSU is lacking experience in the worst way. MJ Stumpf and Pierre Gee-Tucker, the two listed starting on the sides of DeLuca, have never started a college game before. That's what makes DeLuca's test run from last year even more important. His ability to make plays and calling out the plays on defense will be a huge key for NDSU in 2015.

42 days until the North Dakota State University Bison go to Missoula and beats the University of Montana.

20987

Good luck with the upcoming season and in the classroom Nick.

20988

Go Bison!
