Brian Keller was in a serious car accident on Tuesday morning in New Jersey. He was rushed to the hospital and placed on life support. He has been in an induced comma since. Here is an article from the local paper with more details HERE (http://www.lehighvalleylive.com/lafayette/index.ssf/2015/06/lafayette_football_player_crit.html).

Really tough news about a 21 year old senior, on the academic honor roll as a mechanical engineer, coming off of a bit of a break out season, with the whole world ahead of him. Some more details have come out over social media, but I don't want to post them until I know the family approves them being shared. Just know that this young man will need to fight through every step of recovery. His teammates, coaches, campus community, and alumni are behind him. #PrayersforKeller

For those of you who may wish to donate to help his family defray the costs of treatment you can visit the GoFundMe page HERE (http://www.gofundme.com/Prayersforkeller?fb_action_ids=866276843427292&fb_action_types=og.shares&fb_ref=m_d_ty).

UPDATE: Brian passed away this morning, with the staff and team being told by the family shortly after it happened. Such a terrible loss of a strong, bright young man. He will be greatly missed.

Too young. Just terrible. A spirited young man with many gifts and talents. But I will always remember that he truly cared for his teammates. In every workout and every class he cared. He may have caused a few scuffles in practice because he refused to slow down, wouldn't take it easy but that was because he wanted to better his team. Watching him mature from the overly excited, rambunctious freshman to the senior on the academic honor roll. May he rest in peace, and and may God bless his family.

What a terrible loss. The coma and subsequent death after a car crash in south Jersey reminded me of Pelle Lindbergh's accident and death 30 years ago. (Pelle Lindbergh was a young hockey goalie with the Philadelphia Flyers who had a great 1984-85 season but was in a serious car crash early in the 1985-86 season and was briefly in a coma and kept alive via a ventilator before dying.)

So sad...And to think I recall hearing about an accident that was tying up traffic northbound on 295 near the Florence-Columbus exit on Tuesday AM...Who would have thought!!! Anyways, my prayers and condolences for his family and friends. I recall the Pards snatching him from going to Lehigh spring of 2011 at the 11th hour. I stopped by to talk to the family at tailgates (wearing his jersey "80" with "Keller" so proudly) and talking to them as they were from the same area of South Jersey as I was.

heart goes out to him and his family and friends, the kind of thing that you think will never happen to you or your loved ones but they do. Every day I try to figure a way to slow life down a bit, life happens to fast.

RIP young man!
