McNeese State Wins 11th Southland Conference Football Title
Cowboys advance to NCAA Playoffs, wait until Sunday for playoff announcement.

FRISCO, Texas - Carlese Franklin caught two touchdown passes and Bryan Smith made a sack to set a school single season record as McNeese State beat Nicholls State 26-10 here Saturday night to win the Southland Conference title.
It was the continuation of a comeback the Cowboys had started at mid-season. The win was the fifth in a row for McNeese, which finished the regular season at 5-1 in league play and 7-4 overall.
The Cowboys have now gone 6-1 under new head coach Matt Viator.
This is also the 11th SLC title for the Cowboys who last made the playoffs in 2003. They grabbed the league's automatic berth in the NCAA Playoffs and will find out who they play and where they play Sunday afternoon. The Division I Football Championship Bracket Selection Show will be aired on ESPNEWS between 12:30 p.m. and 1 p.m.
