Can't you get a new stadium for 50-75?

Hell, Yulman Stadium (the gorgeous 30k seat venue Tulane just opened) was 75M

http://www.woodwarddesignbuild.com/images/cache/images/uploads/projects/slides/TulaneStadiumGameday2_800_577_s.jpg

It includes a ton of hospitality suites, a 94x24 video board, 2 massive ribbon boards..

North Texas just opened 31k capacity Apogee Stadium for 75M
http://www.sturdisteel.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/University-of-North-Texas-Apogee-Stadium3.jpg

The facility houses various amenities, including a press box, luxury boxes, and an alumni pavilion. It also uses environmental technology; it is the first newly built stadium to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum certification. I can tell you right now that cost them a pretty penny or 1000000000 to do.

Why spend that much to renovate unless you're trying to preserve Wrigley or Fenway?

Yeah Richmond's is ideal. This renovation along with the new entrance ways are going to look beautiful in the summer and fall. We just need someone to donate 800k for a big video board for the stadium. One thing I do wish they did was expand the current seating down closer to the track.

western Carolina now has TWO sides!

since he brought it up, I'll take this time to promote WCU. Even though some was done more than 10 years ago.

from catamountsports.com

"Prior to the 2003 season, more facility improvements and upgrades to the stadium were completed. A $3.1 million addition featured a 4,000-seat West Side grandstand seating area that included concessions and restroom facilities as well as new, updated lighting. The weight room in the Jordan-Phillips Field House (http://www.catamountsports.com/ot/strength-conditioning.html) was expanded, nearly doubling its previous capacity which also added a hospitality patio that overlooks the stadium on the north end zone. It also includes additional team meeting space, computer lab and visiting team locker room. The field house and East Side stands were also bricked to match the brickwork of the Ramsey Center and of the new West Side stands.

Also, on September, 16, 2006, the Dale & Diane Hollifield Football Locker Room facility located on the first floor of the Ramsey Center was dedicated. At a cost of $225,000, the 100-plus locker facility was expanded with beautiful, wooden lockers located throughout.
Most recently, during the off-season prior to the 2010 campaign, a Daktronics scoreboard with video screen (http://www.catamountsports.com/view.gal?id=66390) were installed in the south end zone - Ramsey Center end - of the facility. The state-of-the-art video screen measures 17-feet tall by 32-feet wide and includes a scoreboard with a matching score and time board adhered to the facade of the Jordan-Phillips Field House."

Maybe it's just the perspective of the rendering, but it almost seems like the football field is out of scale with the stands. It looks like the field is 50 yards away from the stands.

I know you guys have been looking forward to a stadium improvement for a long time and this does look nice. It just looks like far more separation than the average field with a track around it, which made me curious.

Along with the end-zone renovation project. MSU has renovated the fieldhouse with new seating, curtains(attendance sucks), sound system, and Mondo surface for indoor track. The weight room was renovated last year. The Bball lockers got a reno before the season. Rumored football stadium timelines on the east side renovation and an indoor practice facility vary depending on who you talk to, but I think whatever the timeline was, gets bumped up because of what the Grizzlies have planned. Oh, I forgot they also renovated the outdoor track a couple years ago for hosting the BSC championship.

Here is the facade of the opposite side of Robins. Not as grand but still collegiate gothic to fit into campus

And one of the main gates into the stadium. These are from old UR stadium, and are pretty cool, I think.

That is a really nice looking stadium and the spider Web gates are an awesome touch. It would be nice to see a game there someday.

In the Big Sky, Montana State added an endzone, Montana added a second level to the east side, and... that may be it. Starting now-ish(?), we're adding some facilities to the south side of WaGriz as well.

They can finally score TD's now.

No pictures or really any information yet, but Bryant is building a new center in the south endzone. All I know is that it will be called the "Bulldog Weight and Condition Center. I have reached out (on social media) to the President and the University and all I received was "hoping to have some soon" response. Bryant broke ground on Nov. 22nd.

I also found out that the construction plans include an indoor turf complex and remodeling/expansions to the Chace Center -- Bryant's basketball "arena."

What kind of expansions are they looking to make to the basketball arena? Maybe they want to be the 12th MAAC school? Would have to move their football program from NEC like Monmouth did though. Also, higher NEC buyout since MU/Qpac defected.

the first pictures from Bryant's planned upgrades for athletic facilities are out.

edit:

Also, from the recent Alumni magazine:

"Bryant's Indoor Practice Facility has been designed to rival similar facilities at NCAA Big 5 conference institutions. when it is completed, Bryant will become the only private Division I school in New England to have a state-of-the-art, permanent, indoor turf practice facility. With 78,000 square feet and a full 100 yards of turf, teams will be able to train and compete at the highest levels throughout the year, despite inclement weather.

Enhancements to the Elizabeth and Malcolm Chace Wellness and Athletic Center will also be included."

NAU renovated the Skydome in 2011 - removed all bleachers, now all chairbacks. All areas remodeled.

Colgate's last major renovation was a while ago, though we built a new press box about a decade or so back. I have a feeling that the next renovation will reduce capacity, which also occurred with Colgate's basketball facility (Cotterell Court).

NDSU put in new awesome turf a few years ago. But I think the Fargodome is more or less unchanged for the last 2 decades.

FAMU hasn't done a major renovation to Bragg Stadium since the early 80s. The only thing we've done was add a video board, replace the grass a couple of times, and add rails in the stairways this past season.

There has always been rumblings of a major overhaul in coming in the future but we haven't seen anything concrete or anything come to fruition.

It's a great place to watch a game...just very outdated

I like the look of the new center from a far, but why the heck did they put the stairs in the seating bowl like that? I don't understand why folks design in obstructed view seating anymore.

Some updates from UNH:

Ground breaking ceremony is May 29th, although construction is starting ASAP. It will be built in front of our eyes through the 2015 season and is expected to be done for the 2016 season. The student section will still stay in the south endzone, as the university changed its mind after last years playoffs. The new expansion will bring total public seating to 11,500, and the student section bringing it total to around 13,000.

Supporting document, blueprints, and renderings here:

http://www.ci.durham.nh.us/boc_planning/unh-stadium-expansion

and here:

There have been quite a few complaints about the track, unfortunately its staying. It came from a big donation 15 years ago and they didnt want to offend the donor. The renderings make the track space look large, but it wont be any more distant then it already is, which if you have seen a game there, isnt that bad.

Portland State's football field went through so major changes about five years ago when the Portland Timbers professional soccer team came to town. Providence Park as it is called now. No baseball configuration as they kicked out the AAA baseball team. It is now a professional soccer stadium. Seats and concessions on both sides of the field.
