View Full Version : Popeye's Bahamas Bowl

So normally I'm against the talk that NDSU should look to go FBS as you get stuck at a crappy bowl game. However, being from North Dakota, there is a certain appeal to qualifying for a Bowl in the Bahamas each year...I could get used to that! :)

Merry Christmas to all who celebrate it. And to those who don't, Happy Holidays!

Who has more butts in seats? The band or the fans?

If that game had any real meaning, they kick the XP and go to overtime. Going for two was a total "f*** it" move. Still though, that TD was amazing!

Careful about throwing out blanket invitations to the Caribbean around Bison fans in the middle of a North Dakota winter! Just sayin.... xnodx

P.S.- Will there be Lefse at the party? Uff da!

I wish they had found a way to have the schools bands go down, I know that if UD had a trip to the Bahamas potentially I would have a passport in advance. I remember reading that the stadium there is due to be expanded soon so hopefully the bowl does well

After watching this game, I take back everything negative I ever said about these low-end bowl games.

Should've kicked the XP and taken the momentum into OT. That would have been the greatest fourth quarter comeback in the history of college football.

Wow, you guys are on a roll....

Idaho Potato Bowl thread, nothing to do with FCS, but started on the FCS discussion forum...

Didn't even notice it earlier but why is this thread in FCS Discussion?

Boca Bowl thread, nothing to do with FCS, but started on the FCS discussion forum...

I assume you missed what I said on the Potato Bowl thread so I'll repeat it here. This is not FCS ball. It does not go on this board. Please help me by putting these threads in their proper places if you would.

Been doing this a lot and would like to not have to too much more.

That conversion play call sucked, I hate the fade it rarely works... I'm don't get why it's called so often...

Why isn't anyone complaining that it's a "high school" stadium?

Yes. I had the game on because nothing else was during the day. Great comeback, great play with one second.

Play call was awful. Can see going for two there by reading into the confidence of the team but at least have something up your sleeve.

No one's going to complain about a stadium in the Bahamas, because it's in the Bahamas. It's probably their national stadium too.

Yes. I had the game on because nothing else was during the day.

And that's what the bowl structure has become--holiday TV filler, with no end in sight. If you've got an available stadium and a sponsor, step right up. (The Dallas-Ft. Worth area has four bowl games this year, and that's not counting the ISU-NDSU game.)

The idea of the Worcester Bowl may not be that far off...

well if the Bahamas can get a bowl game, I see no reason why San Juan shouldn't have one, there were 5 cruise ships in port yesterday which meant 20,000 people walking around with nothing to do ...... only one minor detail that might prevent it from happening...

I detest overtime. If you have momentum on your side you go for 2 and the win right then and there. Any coach worth their headset has a play ready for that moment.

back in the good days of AGS the sections were used. Now it seems that inaction rules - except personal admin (and friends) attacks - stuff is rarely moved to its correct place. Political for sure.

Odd that no one mentioned this considering the hard-on for the FBS bowl attendance and tv ratings in an attempt to tear down other programs to make yourself feel better about yours...

http://money.cnn.com/2015/01/02/media/college-football-playoff-ratings/

The two highest-rated broadcasts in cable TV history now belong to ESPN thanks to the new college football playoffs.

On Thursday, 28.2 million viewers watched Oregon blow out Florida State 59 to 20 in the Rose Bowl. Later in the night, 28.3 million tuned in as Ohio State upset top-seed Alabama 42 to 35 in the Sugar Bowl.

These numbers make the semifinal games the two most-watched broadcasts in cable TV history (http://espnmediazone.com/us/press-releases/2015/01/college-football-playoff-semifinals-cables-largest-two-audiences-in-history/). (http://espnmediazone.com/us/press-releases/2015/01/college-football-playoff-semifinals-cables-largest-two-audiences-in-history/)

"These record setting numbers illustrate the enormous fan interest in college football and the wide ranging appeal of the new College Football Playoff format," John Wildhack, ESPN's executive VP of programming, said in a statement.

Not really. There were some great times, followed by admin(s) over-moderating and a general schism to the two boards. A lot of folks at CS used to be here as well.

Its a heck of a lot better than the dishonest multiple accounting mod crap YOU used to pull.

I agree. I'd rather see my team lose going for two, than lose because of a field goal in overtime. But if the conversion works, its one of the most exciting moments in sports.
