MISSISSIPPI senior running back VASHON PEARSON (#24) has been declared academically ineligible for his upcoming senior season, so he will not be playing for the Rebels this fall... there is a chance he could opt to transfer down to the Division I-AA or Division II level based on the fact that he will face stiff competition for playing time next season, since the team will then have the services of junior running back BEN-JARVUS GREEN-ELLIS (#7), a local area product who is sitting out this season after transferring from Indiana.

Does the NCAA allow an academically ineligible player to transfer and play?

they shouldn't but my bet is he will play somewhere.

I don't think he can accept an athletic scholarship if he's AI. May have to go NAIA or D2/3.

Umass, GSU, or Montana will pick this Bum up.

I don't think we need a bench warming RB.

Transfers aren't exactly our (GSU) cup of tea either. Besides, he's probably looking to go to a school where he can expect some playing time. ;)

He's a senior and I can guarantee you with all sincerity he won't wind up at GSU. Even if by some lightening bolt kind of chance he did he wouldn't sniff the field playing behind Jermaine Austin and Brandon Andrews- who between them may very well go for >2000 yards in 2005.

I don't see where UMass needs him either. My bet would be a D-2 in his close geographic area.

We have gotten Miss transfers before (ie Danny Bell) I don't see us taking him. Our staff was mildly interested in Cooper and he is quite a bit better than Pearson.

GSU didn't persue Cooper so that tell me they are not looking for a RB.

But who knows, he will end up somewhere if he is eligible.
