That is an absurd 5 game stretch to open the year. Cal Poly on the road seems a little over the top. The UNI-EWU game will be great!

So next year UNI is trying to get behind the 8-ball before conference season starts or what?? Those first 5 would be quite the challenge for any team.

Thats a brutal schedule...

Games 6 and 7 won't be a cake walk either. WIU will be a much improved team next year IMO and SDSU on the road will be tough as well. With the losses UNI will have after this year if they can get through that stretch at 4-3 or better they should be ecstatic.

Tough schedule. Wondering if the AD even likes football.

0-1 at home to start the year too...will be tough for UNI :)

Although it might be a let down week for EWU after we knock off the national champ Oregon Ducks the week before.

so I guess the consensus is that UNI should have scheduled more cupcakes?

Tough schedule. Wondering if the AD even likes football.
EWU is a H/H for 15/16
CP is a H/H for 15/17
Yearly FBS

The conference schedule seems to always set up badly for UNI with XDSUs and ISUr always on the road/home in the same year and almost always right in a row.

We could play more cupcakes but we usually get really good H/H deals with a couple schools. Typically not 2 in the same year though

Kind of a bummer that 4/5 start on the road...

And then battle SIU to finish the season.

Looks like great, tough schedule. 8-3 wins a seed?

That's a first-class schedule. Great job, UNI.

Well it is easier than playing 2 FBS schools.

Well it is easier than playing 2 FBS schools.

and the FBS school on the schedule is the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th toughest game on the schedule.

going off of the current Sagarin rankings, which I know aren't really reflective of next year's teams, but still.......

Illinois State - 59
SDSU - 75

Iowa State - 90

Eastern Washington - 96
Indiana State - 99
SIU - 110
Missouri State - 119
Western Illinois - 126
Cal Poly - 146
South Dakota - 172

um 5 wins next year would be a lottery win. Next year is a full blown rebuilding year. The defense will be halfway decent but the offense is gonna be worse than this year...(if thats possible). our OC will be back, Kollmorgen will be back and like 5 running backs, but we lose our top 3 receivers (which this last year didn't mean much in the full scheme of things), DJ, and a couple hogs on the line. Personally as of today, winning 1-2 of the first 6 would nice. With Salmon still around I expect nothing but suckiness.

The only benefit is the schedule being as strong as it is...if we can somehow win 7-8 games, it would fully surprise a lot of PN, myself included. A large amount of us said that if any year was going to be the year to get #1 it would have had to be this year with the core we had.

Their AD created a strong resume for the playoffs. A 6-5 record and they are a shoe-in

I agree it looks to be a tough year for the panthers but you never can tell.

I dont think 6-5 would be a shoe-in with all the other potential valley playoff teams. Plus, the committee is weird and like wins/loss more than strength of schedule. 7-4 would do it though.

cuz UNI really has a say in how the conference sets up the schedule.
(and the rotation of who doesn't play who is a two year deal, to balance home/road games)

Duh...

Haven't you noticed most teams fans seem to think UNI sets all the schedules.

NDSU fans because we played on deer opener
YSU because we didn't play the last year or next
Indiana State said it was because we were scared to play them with Bell...

It never really ends.

Pretty sure that YSU fan was not serious. It appeared to be dripping with sarcasm.

It's not the first place I've read that...

and one of the only sarcastic posts that said that from what I've read
